Ex - 04 SPREAD SHEET - Analyze the Data in Chart

AIM:

To create a worksheet for the give relational data(minimum ten records) and show
The data in the line, bar and pie chart.

Procedure:

A. Creating data for ten records

Open the Microsoft Excel 2007 and Enter the values in the table as shown in Figure 4.1.

B. Font & Alignment & Color


I. Select the cells to format.
II. Choose Format from Cells group a pull down menu appears. Click Format Cells. Format Cells
windows appears.
III. Select the font face, font color and click OK as shown in Figure 4.2.

IV. Select the needed color from Font group as shown in the Figure4.3.

C. Formulas
Formulas are nothing but mathematical expression. An expression is an alternate sequence of
operand and operator(+, -, *, /, ^). The general form is

= cell address 1 + cell address 2 + …. cell address n

The steps given below are followed to calculate the total sales in each month
i. To calculate the sales of January, we have to add the three products. Therefore the formula for
adding the values in E5, F5, G5 is
=E5+F5+G5
This formula is entered in the cell address H5 to get the total and is shown in Figure 4.4

ii. To get the other students total in the cells H6 to H14 apply the same formula. To apply the
same formula select cell H5 and place the mouse pointer at the lower Right corner of the cell.
Now the mouse pointer becomes (+) as shown in Figure 4.4
iii. Now click and drag the mouse pointer to apply the formula in the cells H6 to H14. All the cells
will be filled with the total values as shown in Figure 4.5

D. Insert Charts
The steps given below are followed to create line chart
i. Open the created worksheet.
ii. Select the data for which a line chart has to be made as shown in Figure 4.6

iii. Select Line button from charts group present in the Insert tab. A pull down menu appears as
shown in Figure 4.7

iv. Select chart Layout type from the pull down menu.
v. The selected chart will be displayed as shown in Figure 4.8

E. Bar Charts
The steps given below are followed to create Bar chart
i. Open the created worksheet.
ii. Select the data for which a bar chart has to be made.
iii. Select Bar button from charts group present in the Insert tab. A pull down menu appears as
shown in Figure 4.8

iv. Select chart Layout type from the pull down menu.
v. The selected chart will be displayed as shown in Figure 4.9

F. Pie Charts
The steps given below are followed to create Pie chart
i. Open the created worksheet.
ii. Select the data for which a Pie chart has to be made.
iii. Select Pie button from charts group present in the Insert tab. A pull down menu appears as
shown in Figure 4.10

iv. Select chart Layout type from the pull down menu.
v. The selected chart will be displayed as shown in Figure 4.11

Result:

A simple worksheet for the given ten relational data and different charts has been created
successfully.
