b. Productivity Index versus recovery factor for different types of
reservoirs?
c. The GOR versus cumulative production for different types of reservoirs?
d. Draw Vogel’s IPR reference curve?

Problem 1:
The Lamar No.1 was tested for eight hours at a rate of about 38
STB/D. Wellbore flowing pressure was calculated to be 585 psia,
based on acoustic liquid level measurements. After shutting the well
in for 24 hours, the bottomhole pressure reached a static value of
1125 psia, also based on acoustic level readings. The rod pump used
Problem 2:
A well is produced from an undersaturated oil reservoir at an average
reservoir pressure of 2800 psi. The bubble point pressure is recorded
as 1400 psi at 140 oF. The following additional data are available:
▪ stabilized flow rate = 300 STB/day
▪ stabilized wellbore pressure = 1800 psi
▪ h = 20 ft
▪ rw = 0.25 ft
▪ re = 600 ft
▪ S = 0.5
▪ K = 55 md
▪ o @ 2300 Psi = 2.5 cp
▪ Bo @ 2300 Psi = 1.5 bbl/STB
Calculate the productivity index by using both reservoir properties
and flow test data.
Problem 3:
A pool that is drilled on a 40-acre spacing has a productive horizon
15 ft thick with an average permeability of 10 md, more over oil
formation volume factor1.17 rb/stb, if the wells are completed with
5" casing. Estimate the average productivity index and AOF if the
static reservoir pressure is 1250 psig and μo = 5 cp.
Problem 4:
Plot the IPR for an undersaturated reservoir if it has J=1.806
ft3/hr/atm and Ps =1550 psig, then:
Problem 5:
The following test was conducted on a solution gas drive well:
Given data:
PR = 2000 psi, and Pwf = 1500 psi at qo = 65 bpd
Using Vogel's correlation (1968), find the following:
▪ qo max
▪ qo for Pwf = 500 psi
▪ draw the IPR.
Problem 6:
A discovery well, the Haskell No.3, was tested in the Viola Sand at a
rate of 200 STB/D with a bottomhole pressure of 3220 Psia. Bubble-
point pressure was calculated with a correlation using surface data
measured when the well was producing at a low rate. The estimated
bubble-point of 3980 psia indicates that the well is draining saturated
oil, since the initial reservoir pressure was measured at 4000 psia.
Plot the IPR using the Vogel's correlation.
Problem 7:
A well is produced from a saturated reservoir with an average
reservoir pressure of 2500 psig. Stabilized production test data
indicated that the stabilized rate and wellbore pressure are 350
STB/day and 2000 psig. respectively. Calculate:
▪ Oil flow rate assuming constant J @ Pwf = 1850 psig.
▪ Oil flow rate using Vogel's method @ Pwf = 1850 psig.
▪ construct the IPR by using Vogel's method and the constant
productivity index approach.
Problem 8:
An oil well is produced from an undersaturated reservoir that is
characterized by a bubble-point pressure of 2130 psig. the current
average reservoir pressure is 3000 psig. Available flow test data
shows that the well produced 250 STB/day at a stabilized Pwf of 2500
psig. Construct the IPR data. (Using Beggs' method (1991) for
applying Vogel's correlation for undersaturated reservoirs)
Problem 9:
A well that is produced from a reservoir having an average pressure
of 3000 psig produced at a rate of 250 STB/day when bottom hole
flowing pressure was 1800 psig.
Problem 10:
The following data pertains to an undersaturated reservoir having PR
= 4000 psig, Pb=2000 psig, S =0, Test data: Pwf = 3000 psig for Qo
= 250 STB/day, generate the IPR.
Problem 11:
A flow-after-flow test was conducted on a well-produced from a
reservoir in which PR = 3600 psia. The test results were:
