Steps to Create a Horizontal Bar Graph in Excel
Step 1: Open MS Excel and Enter Data
1. Open Microsoft Excel and create a new blank workbook. 2. In Column A, enter the Years. 3. In Column B, enter the Amount Invested. 4. In Column C, enter the Valuation. 5. Your data should look like this:
1. Click and drag to select all the data, including headers.
Step 3: Insert a Horizontal Bar Graph
1. Go to the Insert tab in the top menu. 2. In the Charts section, click on the Bar Chart icon. 3. Choose Clustered Bar Chart. 4. A horizontal bar chart will appear on your sheet.
Step 4: Customize the Chart
1. Click on the chart to select it. 2. Click on Chart Elements (the + icon on the top right of the chart). - Check "Axis Titles" and rename: - X-Axis as "Amount (Invested & Valuation)" - Y-Axis as "Years" - Check "Legend" and rename it as "Investment vs Valuation". 3. Click on the Chart Design tab to change colors, styles, and themes.
Step 5: Save the File
1. Click File, then Save As. 2. Choose a location and save it as Investment_Valuation.xlsx.
