11. Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar
President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puruskar on 17

5. Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) mission
The two governments (India & Japan) are working together on a joint Lunar Polar
Exploration (LUPEX) mission, which could be launched as early as 2026.
Note- Space startups in Japan and India have agreed to jointly study using laser-equipped
satellites to remove debris from orbit.
6. SPADEX mission
Aims to develop and demonstrate the technology required to dock and undock spacecraft
in space.
For this, India will use PSLV-C60 from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.
The SPADEX mission is a cost-effective technology demonstration mission to demonstrate
in space docking using two small spacecraft

SCHEMES
1. Jalvahak Scheme:
In December 2024, the Government of India has launched the Waterways Incentive
Scheme
The Scheme aims to reduce the load on road and rail networks and encourage sustainable
transportation.
It will provide direct incentives for transporting goods on waterways for a distance of more
than 300 km.
2. Banglar Bari housing scheme:
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched the Banglar Bari housing
scheme.
It is a state government-funded initiative aimed at providing affordable housing to the
people of West Bengal.
3. Bima Sakhi Yojana:
On December 9, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ in
Panipat, Haryana.
Under this scheme, women will become agents of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC),
through which they will be able to sell insurance and earn income.

1. 39th President of USA ‘Jimmy Carter’ died at the age of 100(longest serving president in US
history)
2. Former Prime Minister of India Shri Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92. He
was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1987 and served as Prime Minister of India from 2004
to 2014.
3. Osamu Suzuki, former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation died at the age of 94 years.
He was awarded Padma Bhushan by Government of India in 2007.
4. Pandit Sanjay Ram Marathe, a reputed classical singer and harmonium player died on
December 16,2024.
5. Tulsi Gowda, also known as the “Encyclopedia of Forest” passed away in December 2024.
She was awarded Padma Shri in 2021. Belonged to Halakki tribe of Karnataka and has
planted over 30,000 trees in 60+ years of environmental work.

2. Oxford University ‘Word of the Year’ for 2024:
Oxford University Press (OUP) has announced ‘brain rot’ as the Oxford Word of the year
for 2024.
3. World Maritime Conference 2024:
The 2024 world Marine technology conference (WMTC) will be held in Chennai (Tamil
Nadu)
from 04-06 December and will be hosted by the Institute of Marine Engineers of India
(IMEI) Chennai branch.
4. Mount Semeru Volcano:
Mount Semeru, located in Indonesia’s East Java province, has erupted.
5. Udaan Yatri Cafe:
To address the growing concerns over expensive food and beverages at airports, the Indian
Government has launched the ‘Flight Passenger Cafe’ initiative.
The project aims to provide affordable snacks to travelers and has been started as a pilot
project at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata.
