Three finger gloves

A knitting pattern by jellyplus


Simple gloves that allow more finger movement than casual mittens and more
warmth and cosiness than 5-finger gloves. Perfect for everyday adventures or
more intense cold weather activities where you need some grip and precision.

SIZING
The pattern is written for a size L:
hand length measured from tip of the
middle finger down to the base of
palm approx. 20-22 cm or 8-9 inches

GAUGE
21 stitches and 23 rows in 4 inches
or 10 cm in stockinette

MATERIALS
Yarn
Approx. 270 m of DK to light worsted
weight yarn or sport and fingering
weight yarn held together (as in
sample).
Sample shown in:
 Drops Alpaca (100% alpaca; 167
meters/183 yards per 50 grams;
colour 0517 mix)
 Holst supersoft (50% merino wool
and 50% Shetland wool; 287
meters/314 yards per 50 grams;
colour 005 Oxford)
ABBREVIATIONS
Needles
 co - cast on
3.25 mm (US 3) needles OR needle size required  sts - stitches
to obtain pattern gauge (in double-pointed nee-  k - knit stitch
dles or long circulars, depending on preferred  p - purl stitch
method of working in the round).
 k2tog - knit 2 stitches together (1 stitch
Recommended needle size is smaller than the
usual needle size you would use for this weight decrease)
of yarn to get more compact and durable fabric.  ssk - slip 2 stitches knitwise one at a time &
knit together through the back loop (1 stitch
decrease)

 m1R - make one right; lift loop between

INSTRUCTIONS
CO 40 sts. Join in the round. Mark the beginning of the round with a marker.

Cuff Thumb increases


K1, P1 for 25 rows Next row: K13, k1fb, pm, K15, pm, k1fb, K14 (=
46 sts)
Start body of glove Next row: K all
Next row: K to 1 st before marker, k1fb, slm, k to
Next row: (K1, m1R, knit 18 sts, m1L, k1) repeat

Next row: K16, put 11 sts onto waste yarn (sts for the
2nd finger), CO2 (using the backwards loop cast on),
k16 (= 34 sts)

3rd to 5th finger


Next row: K all for 17 rows (= 34 sts)
Next row: K14, k2tog, k2, ssk, knit until end of round (= 32 sts)
Next row: K all
Next row: K13, k2tog, k2, ssk, knit until end of round (= 30 sts)
Next row: K all
Next row: (K1, ssk, K9, k2tog, k1) repeat once more (= 26 sts)
Next row: K all
Next row: (K1, ssk, K7, k2tog, k1) repeat once more (= 22 sts)
Next row: K all

Leave a longer tail, kitchener the remaining stitches together to close the top and while weaving in your
ends close any remaining holes on top.

2nd finger Thumb


Put all 11 sts on needles, pick up 7 sts Put all 15 sts on needles, pick up 5 sts
