1.0 Purpose and Scope

3.0 PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

A full and detailed description of the roles and responsibilities of all (Ecologi) staff is included within
the Project Quality Plan. For the works as covered by this method statement, the following personnel
have specific duties.

3.1 Project Manager specific responsibility include:


• Responsible for all interfaces and other communication as required during execution
of all activity related with RC. concrete works.
• Responsible to ensure that adequate Quality and Safety measures undertaken and
available for timely completion of work.

3.2 Construction Manager specific responsibility include:


• Responsible to ensure that works are carried out according to the specification,
drawings, ITP & MS.
• Providing the proper protection and storage of all materials and equipment’s used &
ensure all requirements (labors, scaffolding, etc...) are arranged to finish the job.

3.3 Technical office Engineer specific responsibility include:


• Responsible for ensuring that the various submittals are timely undertaken (materials,
method statements, workshop drawings, subcontractors’ issues, technical issues)
• Responsible for quotations as required (materials, subcontractors).
• Responsible for ensuring RFI’s are timely undertaken on behalf of
(Ecologi) Responsible for the distribution of documents within
(Ecologi) site personnel.

3.4 HSE Site reprehensive specific responsibility include:


• Assisting in the production of any health, safety and environmental documents.

• Monitoring the implementation of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Undertaking audits and ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are taken where
required.
• Liaison with the senior site staff on health, safety and environmental related matters.

3.5 Site Engineer specific responsibility include:


• Ensuring that the project is managed in a safe manner and meets the requirements of
the project documentation.
• Ensuring that subcontractors and suppliers achieve the on-site required standards.
• Shall refer to the QA/QC Department and the HSE Department for advice and
guidance when required.
• Shall ensure that operatives comply with the relevant method statements, Toolbox
Talks and general site briefings.

3.6 QA/QC Site representative(s) specific responsibility include:


• Carrying out phased inspections as required.
• Preparation of the ITP.
• Ensuring that all required tests are performed and are in compliance with appropriate
specifications.
• Maintaining a record of all QA/QC activities on site.
• Controlling and ensuring all measuring and test equipment on site is properly
calibrated.
• Controlling all non-conforming products or workmanship, and implementing the
required preventive actions.
• Ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are taken when required.
• Ensuring that the required testing is undertaken by approved independent laboratories,
and that all test results are reviewed.

3.7 Supervisor (s) specified responsibilities include


• To ensure that all operatives and appropriate subcontractors have been briefed as to the
content of the method statement and the works.
• To adequately control the works as required.
• To ensure the works are undertaken in a safe manner.
• To ensure all operatives are adequately training in their respective works.
• Reporting any un-safe practices on site to the (Ecologi) site team.

4.0 Manpower:

5.0 Tools and Equipment:

• Concrete mixer.
• Trowels and brick hammers.
• Circular saw to cut bricks.
• Level and measuring tape.
• String line and corner tools.
• Nail Gun
• Safety equipment (helmets, gloves, goggles).

6.0 Materials:

• Bricks: 12x25x6 cm bricks as per the specified quality standards.


• Mortar: A mixture of cement, sand, and water, adhering to the proportions specified in the
Egyptian and specs of project.
• Use an approved type of extended wire mesh between the brick joints every 60 cm in height,
Galvanized angle, nails, washeys.

7.0 EXECUTION STEPS

• Ensure that surface to receive masonry work are cleaned of all dust, loose particles and other
foreign matters.
• Use measuring tape and string lines to mark the wall locations and heights accurately.
• Check for any obstructions or deviations in the foundation.
● Mix mortar as per the Project specifications, typically with water cement ratio W/C=0.45
(300KG cement for each 1m³ sand).
• Setting out all coordinates & axes to finalize the 1st course regarding to the dimensions of
approved work shop drawing.
• Create 1st course of blocks according to the location on the drawings in condition (do not
exceed 3 courses).
• Ties with galvanized steel (200*50*30) Shall be used.
• Approved Accessories are used to insure connection between masonry walls and vertical
concrete elements.
• After finalizing first 3 courses must be submitted for inspection to consultant and metal lath
over the third course and metal lath must be exacted.
• Expand steel mesh density not less than (1.11kg/m²) with width 20cm in case of wall 25cm.

• Walls are carried up regularly, use full-size units without cutting if possible. The courses are
properly leveled horizontally.
• Don’t exceed 1.5 m height of laying bricks for one day.
• Lay masonry units with full mortar coverage on horizontal and vertical face shells.
• The top of walls left off shall be wetted before work is recommended. A layer of mortar shall be
spread on top before the blocks are laid, and all joints shall be thoroughly flushed up as the work
proceeds. All joints shall be uniform. All block work shall be plumbed vertically.
● Start laying bricks from the corners and work towards the middle.
● Apply a uniform layer of mortar on the brick and between bricks.
● Ensure the bricks are laid level and plumb, using a level and string line.
● Check for proper alignment and joint spacing (typically 1 cm).

Lintel Details:
Effective span = Clear span + Bearing length
Bearing length is not less than 30cm.
d (Depth of lintel) = Effective span / 10
b (Width of lintel) = Width of wall.
• Minimum reinforcement for lintels not less than
(2T12@T) & (2T12@B) With stirps 5T8/m.
●Provide precast or cast-in-place lintels made from
c35(350/300) concrete, unless otherwise specified
elsewhere, and with reinforcing bars indicated on
the drawings.
●The precast lintels will not be loaded until after 7
days have passed after pouring in case of cast-in-
place lintels shuttering will not remove until after 7
days have passed.
● Height of lintels must be carried out at the levels
which defined in approved shop drawing.

●The last course of the masonry wall shall be confined using wooden wedges to avoid the
unexpected movement of wall in the vertical direction.
• Cure the brickwork by keeping it wet for at least 7 days to prevent cracking and ensure proper
strength development.
• Remove any excess mortar from the surface of the bricks once partially set to avoid staining.
• Application of appropriate mortar for bonding.

MORTAR MIXES
• Mix Proportions for Walls 20 cm Thickness or Above: 300 kg of Portland cement per 1 m3 of
sand.
• Mix Proportions for Walls 20 cm Thickness or Less: 350 kg of Portland cement per 1 m3 of
sand.

• Must use a gauge box for mortar ingredients.

8.0 SAFETY

9.1 Safety requirements will be addressed in accordance with the Project General Safety Plan.
9.2 Ensure that sides of excavation will be protected and soil stability of the surrounding areas
will be secured.
9.3 Barricade the excavation area with warning tapes and install Safety signs and notices to
create Safe Working area.
9.4 Concrete pump shall extend their out riggers fully during pouring of concrete, Pumps
discharge hose shall be properly connected & bearing pad to be placed below the wheels of
pumps at the time of pouring.
9.5 Tools and equipment will be inspected periodically by the Contractor to ensure that remain in
proper working order and calibration certifications is current.
9.6 During night works, a suitably trained supervisor will be on site for the full night duration
and adequate lighting shall be provided.

9.0 TOOLBOX TALKS:

• All personnel will be competently trained to carry out the operations they are undertaking. All
operatives will receive a site induction into method statements, safety, quality and environment
prior to commencing work. A Job Hazard Analysis shall be completed by the safety officers
before works begin.
• All attendees will sign to say they have been briefed and understand all recommendations
set out by the Toolbox Talk.
