SOLUTION

Section A
1. There are 6 x 4 = 24 squares and each square has an area of = 1 cm 2.
So, the area of rectangle = 6 x 4 x 1 = 24 cm2.

2. Area of square = side x side = 10 x 10 = 100 m 2.

3. Perimeter of a triangle = 1st side + 2nd side + 3rd side.

So, 20 = 5 + 4 + 3rd side 3rd side = 20 – 9 = 11 m.

4. Perimeter = 2[3a + 2 + 2a – 1] = 2[5a + 1].

1
5. Base of  = 12 cm Height of   2  12 = 24 cm. Area of    12  24 = 144 sq. cm.
2

6. Calculate number of shaded boxes. It comes out to be 21. And each box has area of 1 m 2.
So the area of shaded region becomes 21 m2.

7. Number of squares = 10
Now, 1 = 4 sq. Unit
⸫ Area of figure = 4 x 10 = 40 square units.

8. 1 = 1 sq. M
Area of the concrete basketball court = 7 x 5 = 35 sq. m
Area of the backyard = (11 x 6) sq. m
⸫ Area of the backyard left for grass = (66 – 35) sq. m = 31 sq. m

9. Area of 1 small square = 2 x 2 = 4 sq. cm

Number of shaded part = 7
⸫ Area of shaded part = 7 x 4 = 28 sq. cm

10. Area of 1 small rectangle = 3 x 2 = 6 sq. cm

Number of rectangles removed = 81 – 62 = 19.
⸫ Total area of rectangles removed = (19 x 6) sq. cm = 114 sq. cm.

Section B

11. Unfolded form of the given napkin is shown below.

Area of napkin = AD x DC
= [(9 + 4) x (9 + 2 + 4)] sq. cm
= (13 x 15) sq. cm = 195 sq. cm

12. Given area of square = 100 side x side = 100 = 10 x 10 = side = 10 cm increased in side
of square = 10% of 10 = 1
⸫ New side = 10 + 1 = 11
⸫ Area of new square = (11)2 = 121 sq. cm.

13. After rearranging the given figure, we get the new figure as,

Area of 1 small rectangle = 10 x 5 = 50 sq. cm

Number of shaded rectangles = 4
⸫ Total shaded area = (4 x 50) sq. cm = 200 sq. cm
Now, area of rectangle HBCD = 15 x 16 = 240 sq. cm
Area of HBC = 240 + 2 = 120 sq. cm
⸫ Total shaded area = (64 + 120) sq. cm = 184 sq. cm

14. Area of 1 = 3sq. units

⸫ Area of shape P = 10 x 3 = 30 sq. units
Area of shape Q = 3 = 33 sq. units
Area of shape R = 10 x 3 = 30 sq. units
Area of shape S = 10 x 3 = 30 sq. units
So, shape Q has the largest area.

15. Area of 1 small square = 4 x 4 = 16 sq. cm

Number of shaded squares = 6
Shaded area = 6 x 16 = 96 sq. cm
