PINNACLE EXAMINATION-3 (PCM)

Time : 30 mins. Full Marks : 40
PHYSICS
SECTION A
Each question carries 4 marks. 1 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. 0 mark
will be awarded for unattempted question.
Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) : [4×8=32]
1. Three aircrafts make a turn in the horizontal plane at uniform speed, moving along
concentric circular trajectories that are shown in figure. The aircrafts move such that
they are at constant distance of
600 m from each other at any time. The aircraft closest to the centre moves in a circle
of radius
R = 600 m. The aircraft 2 is moving at a speed of v = 720 km h–1. The acceleration of
third aircraft is 10a ms–2. Find the value of a.

2. Two pendulum bobs of mass m and 2m collide elastically at the lowest point in their
motion. If both the balls are released from a height H above the lowest point, to what
heights do they rise for the first time after collision?

(a) 25 H/9 and H/9 (b) 20 H/9 and H/9 (c) 2 H and H/3 (d) H/3 and 2H
3. n elastic balls are placed at rest on a smooth horizontal plane which is circular at the

ends with radius r as shown in the figure. The masses of the balls are
2
respectively. What is the minimum velocity which should be imparted to the first ball
of mass m such that this nth ball will complete the vertical circle?

(a) (b) (c) (d)

4. The system of two weights with masses m1 and m2 are connected with weightless
spring as shown. The system is resting on the support S. The support S is quickly
removed.

The accelerations of each of the weights right after the support S is removed are

5. A block placed on a rough inclined plane. Angle of inclination  of the plane as shown is
varied, starting from zero. The coefficient of static friction and kinetic friction between
the block and the plane is s and k respectively (s > k) column-II shows the graphs
which necessarily contains  taken on x-axis column-I represents the quantities taken
on y-axis of column-I. Match the quantities of column-I with graphs of column-II.

6. A rubber cord has a cross-sectional area 1 mm2 and total unstretched length 10.0 cm. It
is stretched to 12.0 cm and then released to project a missile of mass 5.0 g. Taking

Stormbreaker. At point ‘A’ Thor is holding the Stormbreaker. Distance of Center of
masses of upper half metal part (mass 20 kg) and lower half metal part (mass 30 kg)
are indicated in the figure. Linear mass density of the Brown Part is 10 kg/m. Assuming
