Designed to impressively set any store centre stage and perform a wide variety of
lighting tasks, the INTRO lighting system includes four luminaire models in a con-
sistent design: INTRO M and INTRO S for light that creates accents. INTRO PANOS
infinity for light that efficiently provides brightness in the room. INTRO liteCarve®
for light that not only ensures uniform illumination to vertical surfaces but also
produces a rectangular lighting cone. The luminaire range is completed by INTRO
RESCLITE emergency luminaires for use in emergencies. Despite the consistent
design and variety of technical lighting features, every INTRO lighting solution pro­
vides maximum creative design scope: the components – mounting frame, lighting
insert through to front ring – can be assembled individually. In this way, variability
and flexibility meet at the highest level.

Complete solution based on one system

The manifold lighting tasks in shops and retail areas place varying
requirements on the lighting system. Modules for accent lighting,
general lighting, vertical lighting and emergency lighting are what
is needed here. With these modules, INTRO reveals its potential in
shop windows and retail areas, and does so in a consistently uni­
form design – which can of course be adjusted to the overall con­
ditions related to a specific project in each case. Innovative LED
technology provides high luminaire efficiency of up to 100 lm/W,
excellent technical lighting features and colour rendering. Combined
with a variety of light colours, light distribution characteristics and
luminous flux levels, lighting designers have a wide range of options
available to meet many different requirements. Of course, loud­
speakers, sprinklers or cameras can optionally also be integrated
into the INTRO lighting system.

INTRO flexibility
One system, many options

INTRO is a modular system that leaves nothing to be desired: installa­

tion with or without frame, square or round modules in two sizes each,
single, double or triple module or recessed channel. Available with
lighting inserts in black and white as well as front rings in five colours –
all components are optionally available in a variety of RAL shades –
INTRO presents itself as a universal lighting tool for shops and retail
areas. Its numerous configuration options provide huge potential for
modification of design and architectural features, depending on the
specific application.
The lighting solution can be configured in the online product cata­
logue, under “myINTRO”, with just a few clicks, i.e. the individual mod­
ules can be assembled extremely quickly. The modular system is im­
pressive in terms of installation, too: it is possible to install only the
frames on the construction site, and to add the lighting inserts only
after completion – making sure the luminaires are protected against
dust and damage. If required, individual lighting inserts can simply be
exchanged at a future date.

INTRO – convenient installation
Little effort required for installation and assembly

Each INTRO module and/or each INTRO channel is impressive due

to its easy handling on the construction site. This means that the
complete INTRO lighting solutions can be installed quickly and with
a high level of precision. Where an installation frame or recessed
channel is used during installation, the lighting inserts are simply
snapped into place.
In the event of repurposing, for instance, lighting inserts can also
be de­installed at any time, and re­installed at a later date, without
the use of any tools. Handy accessories such as butt joint connec­
tors or spacers ensure that the recessed channel can be installed
reliably. If the luminaire is to be invisible, an offset frame allows for
recessed installation in the ceiling. When installed without the use of
any tools, the mounting frames and mounting rings of the configur­
able luminaires are fixed precisely by means of spring clips. Round
and square complete luminaires can be fastened by means of con­
cealed screws.

Light plays a truly significant role in achieving authentic retail presenta­

tion because light is the most important component when it comes to

liteCarve ® reflector technology (patent pending) developed by Zumtobel

creates entirely new lighting characteristics: a spotlight for perfect
illumination of vertical surfaces. The freeform reflector provides highly
precise and balanced light distribution, right up to the peripheries. The
reflector is fitted in front of an LED point light source and directs the
light, 100% indirectly, onto the vertical surfaces in a targeted manner.
This means that not only displays can be illuminated uniformly and effi­
ciently but also shelves, large­format posters, recesses or wall areas
that need to be highlighted. As a track­mounted version, the liteCarve ®
spotlight provides additional flexibility due to the lighting head that can
be pivoted downwards through 40°.

Brilliant LED accent spotlight with high light output levels

In order to create impressive accent lighting with high precision in

shops and retail areas, the multifunctional lighting head of INTRO M
can be rotated through 360°, swivelled in through +90° and swivelled
out through another ­20°. With a luminous flux of 3500 lumens, INTRO
is able to provide high illuminance levels. A lighting system with maxi­
mum flexibility is created by individually combining system efficiency,
colour temperature and light distribution. Thus, INTRO M has turned
out to be a huge sales talent, at extremely low power consumption:
with a luminaire efficiency of as much as 97 lm/W, the LED accent
spotlight outperforms most luminaires fitted with metal halide lamps.

Miniaturised, efficient LED accent spotlight

The rotating and swivelling LED lighting head, with a diameter of just
70 mm, ensures that the lighting solution blends smoothly into the inte­
rior design. Even areas with low ceilings can be illuminated perfectly
by the INTRO S spotlight. In order to illuminate shelves and recesses
to particularly impressive effect, the compact LED spotlight can be
combined with a built­in lighting system. The only thing that is small
in this spotlight is its size; in terms of energy efficiency, however, it is
definitely a giant. With a system power of 19 W, the miniature LED
accent spotlight provides an outstanding luminous flux of up to 1200
lumens, at good colour rendering of Ra 80, or at Ra 90 to meet par­
ticularly high demands.

Downlight for general lighting

The modular INTRO LED lighting system uses the qualities of the
tried­and­tested PANOS infinity downlight. Combined with INTRO S
or INTRO M LED accent spotlights, all modules are thus at hand
that are required for a shop and retail lighting solution in a consist­
ent design. The PANOS infinity range provides an appropriate
component for every situation: using the appropriate module, the
frameless models with a diameter of 100 mm and 150 mm can be
integrated “inconspicuously” into the mounting frame and also into
the recessed channel. With luminaire efficiency levels in excess of
100 lm/W, PANOS infinity is an economically efficient alternative
for use in all applications where single­ or twin­lamp downlights fit­
ted with 18 W, 26 W or 32 W used to be installed.

INTRO RESCLITE 33

Emergency luminaire, just in case

As part of the INTRO M modular system, the compact RESCLITE

antipanic emergency luminaire demonstrates its reliability in the
event of a failure of the power supply system. Due to wide­angle,
rotationally symmetrical light distribution, the emergency LED lumi­
naire illuminates large areas uniformly with 0.5 lx, according to the
EN 1838 standard. This means that one single RESCLITE luminaire
is sufficient to provide orientation in an area of 170 m 2 and make
escape routes or obstacles visible. And yet the powerful LED
package requires a minimum of energy. The system power is only
5 W; in non­maintained mode, a stand­by power of 1.5 W only is re­
quired. In combination with INTRO S or INTRO M LED accent spot­
lights as well as PANOS infinity LED downlights, a consistent design
will therefore be ensured for shops in any case.
