II.SUBJECT MATTER

A. TOPIC: Converting Time Measure Involving Seconds, Minutes, Hours

and Day
B. REFERENCE: Mathematics Learner's Material page 282-285
C. MATERIALS: Charts, Clock and flashcards, Power Point Presentation
D. Values Integration: Cooperation

III.LEARNING APROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity

A. Preparatory Activities

that we have?

B. ELICIT
Let’s have a review about our
previous lesson. Teacher, our previous lesson is all
about “Find the missing value in a
What was our previous lesson? number sentence involving
Yes, Nica? multiplication and division of whole
numbers”

Very Good! Nica!

How do we find missing value

in the number sentence? Teacher, first we will analyze the
number sentence, and we will
Yes, Chiara? choose if we will use multiplication
or division.

Very Good! Chiara!

You are listening to our
previous lesson.

1. ENGAGE
I have here a song, the title
is “Telling Time 1”.
Let’s us hear this song and
we sing.
Yes, Teacher!
Are you ready?
“Telling Time 1”
Ticky, ticky, ticky
Tick-a-tock! ( 3x)
What time is it?
One o’ clock
Two o’ clock
Three o’ clock
Tick-tock!
Four o’ clock
Five o’ clock
Six o’ clock
Tick-tock!
Seven o’ clock
Eight o’ clock
Nine o’ clock
Tick-Tock
Ten o’ clock
Eleven o’ clock
Twelve o’ clock
Tick-Tock!

Ticky,ticky,ticky
Tick-a-tock!
What time is it?
Faster!
All about time, teacher!
What’s the song all about?
Very Good, Class!
Give yourself a very
good clap.

2. EXPLORE That is a clock, teacher!

So anyone know what is
this?
( Show the clock )

Okay this is a clock. The clock tells time, teacher!

Class, did you know what

clock tells?
Yes, Carl?

Very Good! Carl! Our lesson for today is” Converting

Time Measure Involving Seconds,
So anyone who can guess our Minutes, Hours and Day”.
lesson for today?
Yes, Nica?
Very Good! Nica!
For today’s lesson is all about”
Converting Time Measure Involving
Seconds, Minutes, Hours and Day”.

c. EXPLAIN

Teacher 2 o’clock!

What time does it Three (3), Teacher!

tell?
VeryGood!

How many hands does the clock

have?

The three (3) main hand:

1. Hour hand: It is the part of
the clock that points out the
hours on the clock.
2. Minute hand: It is the part of
the clock that points out the
number of minutes past the
hour.
3. Second hand: It is the part of
the clock that moves faster,
showing the seconds.

When a second hand

moves in 1 complete revolution it is
equal to 60 seconds.
60 seconds is equal to 1
minute.
60 minutes is equal to 1 hour.
24 hours is equal to 1 day.

1. To convert seconds to minutes,

divide Teacher 5 minutes!
the number of seconds by 60.
Example:
120 seconds ÷ 60 = 2 minutes
180 seconds÷ 60 = 3 minutes 10 minutes teacher!

How about the 300 seconds÷60 = ?

Yes, Euleen!
Very Good! Euleen!

How about the 600 seconds÷60 = ?

Yes, Yshan1
Very Good! Yshan! 540 minutes teacher!

2. To convert minutes to seconds,

multiply the minutes by 60.
Example:
3 minutes x 60 = 180 seconds Teacher, 900 seconds!
5 minutes x 60 = 300 seconds

How about the 9 minutes x 60 = ?

Very Good, Class!

How about the 15 minutes x 60 = ?

Yes, Cham!
Very Good! Cham!

3. To convert minute to hours, divide Teacher, 11 hours!

the
number of minutes by 60.
Example: Teacher, 20 hours!
300 minutes = 5 hours
540minutes = 9 hours

How about the 660 minutes ÷60 = ?

Very Good! Class!

How about the 1200 minutes ÷ 60 =

?
Very Good! Class!

4. To convert hour to minutes

multiply
the number of hours by 60.
Example:
5 hours x 60 = 300 minutes
9 hours x 60 = 540 minutes
12 hours x 60 = 720 minutes
15 hours x 60 = 900 minutes

5. To get the number of days , divide

the
number of hours by 24.
Example:
48 hours ÷24 = 2 days
240 hours ÷24 = 10 days
288 hours ÷24 = 12 days
408 hours ÷24 = 17 days

6. To get the number of

hour,multiply the
number of days by 24.
Example
3 days x 24= 72 hours
8 days x 24 = 192 hours
12 days x 24= 288 hours
15 days x 24 = 360 hours
1. By dividing 60 seconds
2. By multiplying 60 seconds
4. Application 3. By dividing 60 minutes
Give the equivalent. 4. By multiplying 60 minutes
1. 600 seconds = _____ 5. By dividing 24 hours
minutes 6. By multiplying 24 hours
2. 5 minutes = _____ seconds
3. 6 hours = _____ minutes
4. 2 hours = _____ seconds Yes, Teacher!
5. 4 days = _____ hours

5. ELABORATE
Ask: How do you convert the
following:
1. Seconds to minutes?
2. Minutes to seconds?
3. Minutes to hours?
4. Hour to minutes?
5. Day to hours?
6. Hours to day?
Very Good!
Class, is the lesson is clear to you?

IV. EVALUATION

Direction: Convert the following. Write the answer in your paper.

1. 9 hours= ___ minutes 6. 7 days=___ hours

2.3days=___ hours 7. 336 hours=___ days

3.780 seconds=___ minutes 8. 960 minutes=___ hours

4.540 minutes=___ hours 9. 1,080 seconds= ___ minutes
