24 (a) Foot size cannot be considered as standard unit of measurement. Explain. 1+2+1=4
(b) State two precautions that should be taken while measuring the length of a table using a metre
scale.
(c) Four children measure the length of a table which was about 2 m. Each of them used different
ways to measure it. Sam measured it with a half metre long thread, Ram measured it with a 15 cm
scale from his geometry box.Reena measured it using her hand span and Salim measured it using
a 5 m long measuring tape.
Which one of them would get the most accurate length? Give reason for your answer.

SECTION E
25 (a) A torch requires 3 cells. Show the arrangement of the cells, with a diagram, inside the torch so 1+2+2=5
that the bulb glows.
(b) Using the circuit diagram, differentiate between an open circuit and a closed circuit.
(c) Sonu connected two bulbs to a cell, as shown below:

She found that the filament of bulb B is broken. Will the bulb A glow in this circuit?

(a) Mountain goat has strong hooves.
(b) Earthworms come out of soil during heavy rain.
(c) Cactus plants have long root system and green stems.
(d) One should never join the two terminals of an electric cell without connecting them through a
switch and a device like bulb.

27 Raj read the following paragraph in his science book. 1+1+2+1=5


“Air consists of nitrogen and oxygen as major components of air. But oxygen dissolves in water
easily than Nitrogen or any other component of air. Hence, water contains a higher portion of
oxygen than nitrogen or other gases”.
After reading the above paragraph ,he performs the following activity:

He fills a steel vessel with water and starts heating it on an oven. He notices small bubbles at the
bottom of the vessel after some time.Look at the picture given below and answer the questions
that follow:
