Introduction

The Order No. 30 of the Department of Education (DepEd), s. 2017 creates

the framework for the Philippine Senior High School (SHS) School Strand

Immersion program, which emphasizes the use of academic knowledge in

practical contexts. This directive is a component of larger initiatives to improve

K–12 curricula, specifically the Accountancy, Business, and Management

(ABM) strand, which attempts to equip students for the expectations and

obstacles of the business and management industries. Through the

immersion program, ABM students gain priceless industry experience that

increases their competitiveness and readiness for both college and the

workforce.

The main goal of the ABM strand give students a strong foundation in

the field of business, accounting, and management principles. Important

courses including Principles of Accountancy, Business Math,

Entrepreneurship, and Economics are taught to students in this stream.

School Strand Immersion extends learning outside the classroom by giving

students the opportunity to witness and engage in real-world business

contexts, even while these academic topics equip them with the theoretical

understanding required in the business world. When kids finally enter the job

or pursue higher education in business-related professions, this experience

gives them a realistic understanding of how firms function.

As specified in DepEd Order No. 30, s. In 2017, all SHS students are

required to participate in the immersion program, which for ABM students

includes exposure to different industries related to their area of study. For

4
example, ABM students may find placements in banks, accounting firms,

marketing agencies, or corporate offices. Here, they can witness business

activities, participate in accounting or management tasks, and implement the

concepts acquired in class. This involvement aids students in grasping the

daily operations of a business, including managing financial dealings, making

corporate choices, and engaging with clients and staff.

A major advantage of the immersion program for ABM students is the

enhancement of work readiness. Immersion enables students to cultivate soft

skills like communication, collaboration, and problem-solving, all of which are

essential in the business environment. Additionally, students gain knowledge

about professional ethics, workplace culture, and employer expectations,

aiding their smooth transition into future careers. The practical knowledge

acquired through the immersion program provides students with a richer

comprehension of business principles, including financial reporting, market

analysis, and resource management, which are vital for their career

development.

6
How do you feel about school?

school might feel like a mix of excitement and stress. We are getting

closer to graduation, so there’s a sense of freedom ahead, but at the same

time, it’s a lot of pressure, whether it’s preparing for college, balancing

assignments, or figuring out what’s next.

What is your most memorable subject / class? Why?

I think the most memorable class is the first day of class where we

introduced each other and shared a lot of things to class, that moment was

very memorable because I can see everyone laughing and having fun.

What are your plans after Senior High School?

My plan after senior high school is mainly to continue my studies in

college.

What is your career path?

The career path I want to pursue is to become a flight attendant or a

cabin crew someday.

What is your philosophy in life?

My philosophy in life is the quote that said “if one door closes, another

one opens” this philosophy taught me how endless opportunities life can give

us, and if we don’t succeed on the first try, try again.

7
Do you have plans to go abroad? If yes, where and why?

Yes, because I think there are a lot of job opportunities, I can get there.

What are your dreams and ambitions?

My dream is to really travel the world with my family and provide them

with what they need.

How do you plan to achieve your ambitions and goals in life?

I’d probably break my goals down into smaller steps, so they don't feel

overwhelming. I’d make sure to stay organized, but also allow room for

flexibility because life doesn’t always go as planned.

What are your expectations and apprehensions for work immersion?

For work immersion, I’m expecting to learn a lot about the real world,

like how jobs actually work and what kind of tasks I might be doing in the

future. I think it’ll be a good chance to see what I like and what I don’t, and

hopefully I’ll pick up some useful skills that’ll help later on.

REQUEST FOR WORK IMMERSION

9
PRE- IMMERSSION

10
ACTIVITY 1: The Worker

Work is on your way. Are you prepared to work? Do you have the potential

character talents and skills to take up the vigor being a worker? What should

you possess to become a good worker? How will you prepare for work

immersion?

As I prepare for work immersion, I can honestly say I feel a mix

of excitement and nervousness. I’m excited because it’s a great

opportunity to learn about the professional world and gain experience

that will help me in the future, but I’m also nervous because it’s a

whole new environment for me. Work immersion is a big step toward

adulthood, and it’s important to understand what it takes to be

successful as a worker. In order to be a good worker, there are many

important things I need to prepare for, such as having the right skills,

the right attitude, and the right mindset.

One of the most important things I believe I need to prepare for

is developing the right character. A good worker should be honest,

responsible, and trustworthy. If I show that I can be counted on to do

my tasks, show up on time, and take responsibility for my work, I

believe my co-workers and supervisors will respect me and be more

willing to guide me. Honesty is key too; if I don’t know something or

make a mistake, it’s important to admit it and ask for help. I think it’s

better to be open about my struggles rather than pretend I know

everything. Being responsible also means managing my time well,

which will be really important during work immersion because I will

11
need to balance tasks and deadlines effectively.

Another skill that I know I need to develop is communication.

Whether it’s talking to my supervisor or working in a group,

communication is very important in the workplace. I need to make

sure I can ask questions when I don’t understand something, give

updates on the tasks I’m working on, and work with others in a

friendly and respectful way. I also need to be a good listener. If I’m

given instructions, it’s important to pay attention and make sure I

understand what’s expected of me. A worker who can’t communicate

properly may have a hard time getting their job done.

Adaptability is another key quality I need to prepare for.

Workplaces are always changing, and sometimes things don’t go as

planned. As an intern, I might be asked to do tasks that are new to

me or outside of my comfort zone. Instead of being afraid or

complaining, I’ll need to stay open-minded and adapt to the new

situation. If something unexpected happens, I should be flexible and

try to figure out how to handle it in the best way possible. This might

also mean learning to deal with stress or pressure, especially if I’m

juggling multiple tasks at once. Being able to adjust quickly and keep

a positive attitude will make me more effective as a worker.

I also believe teamwork is an essential skill I need to bring to

work immersion. In a workplace, it’s very unlikely that I’ll be working

alone all the time. I need to be able to collaborate with others, share

ideas, and contribute to group efforts. I’m learning that being a good

12
team player means being supportive, respectful, and willing to help

out whenever needed. It’s important to be respectful of other people’s

opinions and work together to achieve a common goal. I can’t let

personal disagreements or differences affect how I work with others

because the team’s success matters more than individual

preferences.

As I prepare for work immersion, I also need to remember that

professionalism is important. This includes dressing appropriately,

arriving on time, and acting with respect. First impressions matter,

and if I show that I can be professional, I will earn the respect of those

around me. A positive attitude goes hand-in-hand with

professionalism, so it’s important to stay optimistic, even when tasks

get difficult or things don’t go as planned.

Lastly, I think initiative is something I need to be aware of. As

an intern, I won’t always be given instructions for every task.

Sometimes I’ll need to take the initiative to find something to do or

ask if there’s anything I can help with. Being proactive and showing

that I’m eager to learn will make me stand out in a good way.

Employers appreciate workers who take the initiative and go beyond

what’s expected.

To prepare for work immersion, I am focusing on improving

these skills and qualities. I plan to practice my time management and

communication skills, both at school and in my personal life. I will also

try to be open to new experiences and challenges, knowing that I will

13
learn a lot from them. I’ll also take the time to research and learn

about the company or industry I’ll be interning in, so I have a better

understanding of what’s expected of me. Finally, I’ll make sure to ask

questions whenever I’m unsure of something and be willing to learn

from my mistakes.

In conclusion, preparing to be a good worker during work

immersion is not just about technical skills but also about having the

right attitude and mindset. If I can be responsible, adaptable,

communicative, and professional, I believe I will have a successful

experience. Work immersion is a valuable learning opportunity that

will help me grow, not only as a student but as a future worker. By

being prepared and having the right qualities, I will be able to take full

advantage of this experience and learn as much as I can.

Reflection

1. Do you agree to the company’s policy, guidelines, rules and agreement?

Support your answer.

Yes, I agree with the company’s policy, guidelines, rules, and

agreement because they are designed to create a structured and efficient

work environment that ensures all team members are on the same page.

They help maintain professionalism, protect both employees and the

company, and ensure that everyone is treated fairly and equally.

2. Was there a rule that you think is not acceptable to you? Why?

As a student immersing yourself in the marketing department, it's natural to

16
encounter rules or policies that may be difficult to fully accept or understand,

especially if you are new to the professional world and still adjusting to a work

environment. Some policies may feel unfamiliar, restrictive, or just different

from what you are used to.

ACTIVITY 3 Situational Analysis

CONFIDENTIALITY IN THE WORKPLACE

Suppose you work in a police station or a law firm and signed a confidentiality

agreement regarding all their cases at hand, suddenly your friend who was a

suspect to a crime asked you for some documents that are in your office's

possession that may help him in his case. How would you deal with the

situation?

If my friend, who is a suspect in a crime, asked me for documents from

my job at a police station or law firm, I would have to say no because of the

confidentiality agreement I signed. I’d explain that I can’t share any

documents or information because it’s against the rules and could lead to

serious consequences. I’d also tell my friend to talk to their lawyer, who can

get the documents through the right legal process. If my friend kept pushing,

I’d report the situation to my boss to make sure I’m following the rules and

keeping everything professional.

The reason I would refuse is because confidentiality is one of the most

17
important principles when working in places like a police station or law firm.

Both organizations deal with sensitive information, and my role involves

protecting that information, regardless of the circumstances. There are strict

rules and policies that govern how documents and data are handled, and

violating these rules could have legal consequences for both me and my

employer. As tempting as it might be to help a friend in need, I understand

that breaking confidentiality could lead to serious repercussions, not just for

me, but for the integrity of the entire legal or law enforcement process.

I would first calmly explain to my friend why I can't comply with their

request. I would tell them that even though I sympathize with their situation,

my duty as an employee at the police station or law firm is to follow the law

and the rules outlined in the confidentiality agreement I signed. I’d explain that

there are legal channels for them to get the documents they need, and the

best course of action would be for them to speak with their lawyer. Lawyers

know the proper process to request case files or documents, and they can go

through the correct legal procedures to obtain the information. This would

allow them to access the documents without anyone violating the

confidentiality agreement.

If my friend continues to pressure me despite my explanation, I would

take further action to ensure that the situation doesn’t escalate. I would make

it clear that this is not a matter of personal judgment or choice but a

professional and legal obligation. I would tell them that I cannot risk my job or

my reputation by breaking the rules, and I’d strongly encourage them again to

consult with their legal counsel. If the situation becomes more intense, I would

18
immediately report the matter to my supervisor or manager. By doing this, I

would ensure that I am acting within the boundaries of my job description and

maintaining a professional and ethical approach to my work.

Reporting the situation to my boss is important because it ensures

transparency and accountability. My supervisor or manager would be able to

provide guidance on how to handle the situation appropriately. They may also

need to be informed in case my friend attempts to pressurize me further or

take other actions that could put the organization at risk. It’s essential to

involve someone in authority who can deal with the matter in a way that

protects the integrity of the workplace and ensures that no rules are broken.

In conclusion, it’s essential to recognize the importance of

confidentiality in any work setting, especially in sensitive environments like a

police station or law firm. Protecting information is not only a matter of

professional integrity, but it is also a legal requirement. While it may be

difficult to refuse a friend who is in a challenging situation, I would not

compromise my professional responsibilities. Refusing to share the

documents and guiding my friend to consult with a lawyer, followed by

reporting the incident to my boss if necessary, ensures that I am adhering to

my legal and ethical obligations. In this way, I protect both my reputation and

the credibility of the workplace.

19
ACTIVIT 4 Conflict Resolution

Did you ever experience disagreement and conflict with co-workers? How did

you handle the situation? How would you rate your skills in handling

differences of opinion? Please give an example that illustrates your skills:

Yes, I’ve experienced disagreements and conflicts with coworkers

during my work immersion, especially when working on group tasks or

projects in the marketing department. One situation that stands out was when

my team had different ideas about the direction of our surveying task. Some

of us wanted to focus on a more creative approach, while others felt a more

traditional, straightforward method would be better. To handle the situation, I

made sure to stay calm and listened to everyone’s viewpoints before sharing

my own. We ended up discussing our ideas and combining the best aspects

of both approaches, which made the campaign more balanced and effective.

I would rate my skills in handling differences of opinion as around 7 or

8 out of 10. I try to keep things respectful and work towards a solution, but I

20
recognize there’s always room for improvement, especially when there are

strong opinions involved. The key is to stay open-minded and focus on the

bigger goal, which helped me successfully resolve the disagreement and keep

the project moving forward.

I. Steps in securing MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

1. Visit a Healthcare Provider

To begin the process, you will need to visit a doctor or healthcare

provider. This could be your primary care physician, a specialist, or even a

hospital or clinic if you're feeling unwell or need an assessment. If it’s an

urgent matter, you may visit a walk-in clinic.

2. Consult the Doctor

During your visit, you will need to explain your symptoms or medical

condition. The doctor will assess your condition, which may include a physical

examination, a review of your medical history, and possibly some tests

depending on the nature of your illness.

27
3. Provide Necessary Details

The doctor may ask for some details that should be included in the

certificate, such as your full name, age, address, the specific dates of your

illness, the reason for your medical leave, and any other relevant information.

Be sure to provide accurate and honest information.

4. Review the Medical Certificate

After the doctor issues the certificate, review it to ensure all the details

are correct. The certificate should clearly state the nature of your illness or

condition, the recommended rest period, and the doctor’s signature and

medical license number.

5. Receive the Medical Certificate

Once payment is made, the medical certificate will be issued, either in

hard copy or electronically, depending on the healthcare provider's practices.

interview can have a big impact on you being hired or accepted as a work

dialogue with the partner-industry work supervisor or head of office you will be

assigned.

Here are some common interview questions that i encounter during the job

interview:

1. Can you tell me a little about yourself?

Hi, I’m Ahltea Den E. LLanera, and I’m a student at Bais City National

High School- Senior High School and I’m really interested in the open position

in the marketing field. I’m excited about this job because I’m eager to learn

29
new things and think it’s a great opportunity to gain experience.

2. How did you hear about this position?

I found out about this job through our immersion teacher by assigning

as at our different fields. I thought it would be a great opportunity to gain

experience and learn more about the marketing department.

3. What do you know about our company?

I know that your company is known achieving customer satisfaction

and good working environment. I’ve seen that you care about your employees

as much as you care about your customers. I think it would be a great place to

work because of your reputation and the way you run the business.

4. Why do you want to work for our company?

I want to work for your company because I admire the dedication of the

team working in the company. I believe this job will help me grow and learn

more about marketing, and I’m excited about the chance to be a part of your

team and contribute in any way I can

5. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

My biggest strength is that I’m very organized and like to keep things in

ACTIVITY 10 | Mock Job Interview

1. During the conduct of the mock job interview, do you think you did

well?

Yes, I feel that I did well during the mock job interview. I was able to

answer most of the questions clearly and stay calm, which allowed me to

present my qualifications effectively. I was also able to highlight relevant

experiences and skills that align with the job requirements. However, there

were a few moments where I could have been more concise, and I realized

that I still have room for improvement in how I handle unexpected questions.

2. What are the areas that you think you are good at and areas that

needed to be improved?

I believe I did well in articulating my experiences clearly and aligning

them with the role, and I maintained a positive attitude throughout the

31
interview. However, I noticed I could improve by providing more specific

examples when answering behavioral questions, as I tended to be a bit

general at times. Additionally, I found myself rambling when nervous, so I

need to focus on staying more concise and to the point. My body language

also needs some attention, as I could appear more relaxed, especially in

high-pressure moments.

3. Are you more confident now to answer during a job interview?

Yes, I feel more confident now. The mock interview helped me

identify areas where I excel and areas I need to improve. I feel more

prepared to answer questions confidently and stay calm under pressure.

The feedback I received will definitely guide me in polishing my interview

skills for the real thing.
