LP RepPatternsCarod

This lesson plan for Mathematics 1 focuses on teaching Grade 1 students about repeating patterns, with the objective of enabling them to recognize, describe, and create such patterns using various elements. The lesson includes interactive activities, discussions, and assessments to reinforce understanding, and connects the concept of patterns to everyday life. Teaching materials include a PowerPoint presentation, worksheets, and examples from the curriculum guide.

Lesson Plan for Teaching Demonstration

MATHEMATICS 1
Quarter 3
Date & Time: February 07, 2025/ 9:10 AM-9:50 AM
Grade & Section: 1- Badayos

I. OBJECTIVE
A. Content Standards The learner should have knowledge and
understanding of repeating patterns.

B. Performance Standards: By the end of the quarter, the learners are able to

extend existing repeating patterns and create new
repeating patterns.

C. Learning Competencies: The learners determine the next term/s in a

repeating pattern (patterns could use rhythmic
properties, visual elements in the arts, …) (e.g.
numbers: 2, 4, 2, 4, , ; letters a, b, c, a, b, c, a, , ).
D. Learning Objectives: The learners should be able to, recognize,
describe, and create repeating patterns using
objects, images, letters, or numbers.

II. CONTENT Repeating Patterns

A. Teaching Materials:
1. Pages in the Teacher's Guide:
 Matatag Curriculum Guide, Grade 1, Mathematics 1, Quarter 3, Page 23
 Lesson Exemplar for Grade 1, Mathematics 1, Quarter 3, Week 7, Pages
1-9
2. Pages in the Student's Materials:
3. Pages in the Textbook:
4. Additional materials from the Learning Resource portal
B. Other Teaching Materials:
 PowerPoint Presentation, TV, Laptop, worksheets, pictures.
III. PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity
A. Review of the previous Today, we will discuss a new lesson in
lesson and/or introduction Mathematics 1, Quarter 3, Week 7.
of the new lesson. But before that, let's have a quick review  A pattern is something
of our lesson yesterday. What is pattern? that repeats in a
certain order.
Very good, class!
A pattern is a sequence of things or
objects that repeat in a predictable way. It
could be colors, shapes, numbers, or
sounds that follow a specific order. For
example, red, blue, red, blue is a color
pattern, or 1, 2, 1, 2 is a number pattern.
Patterns help us recognize order and
predict what comes next!

B. Weaving the Objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners are
of the Lesson expected to recognize, describe, and
create repeating patterns using objects,
images, letters, or numbers.

C. Connecting examples Before we start with our new lesson, let's

to the new lesson. play a game first. Would you like to play? Yes, teacher!

Our game is called,

“PLEASE CREATE ME”.

In this game, I will divide you into 3

groups. Table 1 will be the first group,
Table 2 will be the second group, and
Table 3 will be the third group. This game
is simple. I have 3 envelopes here, each
with a shape on the back: square, circle,
and triangle. I will call one representative
from each group to pick an envelope for
their group. Each envelope contains
letters, shapes, and images. You will
create a pattern using the pictures,
objects, letters, and numbers provided
inside the envelope.

1. Envelope with triangle:

It has set of images inside.
1.

-------, ------

2.Envelope with circle:

It has set of letters inside.
XY YX _____, , ______
2. XYXYXY
2. Envelope with square:
It has set of shapes inside.

3.
3.
_____, _____,

D. Discussion of the new Now, let's move on to our new lesson,

concept and presentation which is Repeating Patterns.
of the new skill #1.
Now, what is repeating patterns?
 Repeating patterns are things that
happen over and over in the same
order.

How to create repeating pattern?

 A repeating pattern is when something
repeats in a certain order. It can be
shapes, colors, or sounds. For
example, if you see a pattern like red,
blue, red, blue, it keeps going like that.
Here's an example:
Circle, Square, Circle, Square.
That’s a repeating pattern! You can make
your own patterns with colors, shapes, or
even objects!

E. Discussion of the new I will show you some pictures. Please tell
concept and presentation me what comes next in the pattern.
of the new skill #2.
Pattern 1:
What comes next the monkey?

1.
------
Why did you say that the next picture after "Because that’s what is in
the monkey is still a monkey? the pattern, teacher."

Pattern 2:
What comes before number 8?

898 ---- 89 2. 9
Why did you say that the next number “Because that’s what is in
after 8 is 9? the pattern, teacher."

M
Pattern 3:
What comes before letter N?
3.

NMNM
------
“Because that’s what is in
the pattern, teacher."

N
Why did you say that M is the letter before
letter N?
F. "Development of
Civilization (Towards Directions: Describe the following set by
Formative Assessment)" drawing a face if it’s a pattern and a
face if it is not a pattern.

____1. 2323232
2.

G. Application of the Class, why do you think it is important for It's important to know the
lesson to everyday life. us to know the correct pattern? correct pattern because it
helps us understand what
How can you relate repeating patterns to comes next and makes
your daily life? things easier to remember,
like what happens every
You can relate repeating patterns to your day or how things repeat!-
daily life in many ways! For example:
 Daily routines: You might wake up, eat
breakfast, go to school, and then
come home. This routine repeats
every day, just like a pattern.
 Clothing: You might wear the same
type of clothes each week, like
wearing a uniform or following a color
pattern in your outfits.
 Nature: You can see repeating
patterns in nature, like the cycles of
the sun rising and setting every day.

Recognizing these patterns helps us

understand and predict what will happen
next in our day!

H. Summation of the Once again, what is repeating patterns, A repeating pattern is

lesson. class? when something happens
again and again in the
same order.

How will you create a pattern? To make a repeating

pattern, just pick two or
more things and keep
repeating them.
For example:
Red, Blue, Red, Blue
Circle, Square, Circle,
Square
You repeat the same order
over and over again!

Okay, very good!

I. Assessment of the Now get your mathematics notebook and

lesson answer the quiz.

Create Your Own Pattern:

DIRECTIONS: Using colors, shapes, or
numbers, create your own repeating
pattern.
You can choose any combination of 2 or
more items to create your pattern (for
example, red, blue, red, blue or circle,
square, circle, square).
Make at least 2 sets of patterns.
1.
2.
J. Additional Activities for Directions: Give five examples of
Homework and repeating patterns that can be found
Remediation around you, such as in objects, clothes, or
nature. Draw or write the patterns and
explain how they repeat.
