PROJECT SPECIFIC WORK METHOD STATEMENTS

ERECTION OF FIXED TOWER CRANE

1. Scope

a) Erection of 1 unit Fixed Tower Crane with due consideration of quality and safety aspects of the
proposed development.

Make: - ACE
Model: - TC-5540
Height: - 40 Mtrs Height
Jib Length: - 55 M
Maximum Lifting Capacity- 05 Ton.

2. References: - IS 6521 - 1981

3. Purpose of Tower crane Erection:-

To shift the machine to other location and erect the same

4. Responsibilities:-

To erect the tower crane at specified location safely. To do the electrical connections of all motors,
safety equipments. Check &Calibration of all safety devices, display…etc.

5. MAN POWER & RESOURCES

1. ACE service engineer : 1No – M/s. Action Construction Equipment Limited


2. General Workman labour : Aapprox. 4-5 No– Skill labours in Customer Scope.
3. Crane operator : One Crane Operator – arranged by Customer.

6. Approved parts and Material:-

All the tower crane parts are approved and tested by the manufacturer at their works. The slings and
shackles used for the Dismantling to be check at site by ACE Engineer during Erection.

7. Method and sequence of work execution:-


Foundation casting with insert out riggers at proposed Location.
Fix the outer Rigger along with Base mast and water levelled before pouring the concrete as per our
Standard drawing.
EQUIPMENTS
Hydraulic mobile crane – 50 Tons – 1no for standard site conditions or as per exact site requirement
Hydra crane - As per site requirement. Minimum of 14 Ton capacity
Tools & Tackles, welding set, gas cutter required at site and arrange by customer.
1. Assemble the platforms, railings and cabin with the slewing mechanism with all platforms on ground.
2. Assembling of counter jib, counter jib tie bars, main jib, and Main jib tie bars on ground level.
3. Assembling of mast sections with bolts and ensure the bolts tightened with nut & washer. Erection of
masts one by one up to 3 Masts.
4. Erection of climbing cage.
5. Erection of Slew mast & Slew Table.
6. Erection of Tower Head.
7. Erection of Counter Jib.
8. Erection of 01 NO x3.3 MT Counter weight.
9. Erection of Main jib & Jib Tie bars.
10. Erection of Balance 04 no counter weights 03NOX2.9MT & 01X1.5 MT .
11. Electrical cabling, wiring between panels, cabin and safety devices.
12. Tuning of all safety devices.
13. Hoisting & Trolley rope reeving.
14. Lift 01 mast section & place it on Erection Platform.
Start jacking & add mast one by one up to free standing height (40mtrs).If we go beyond
40 mtrs height then need to fix 01 no wall anchor at the point of 30 mtrs building slab top level.
15. Lift 01 mast section & place it on Erection Platform.
Start jacking & add mast one by one up to 62.4 mts.
16. Repeat the same as per given flow chart by adding wall anchor & mast.
17. Setting of all limit’s switches & load test.
Note: Please note that wind speed should be less than 13m/sec and continuous measure and record.

8. SAFETY (Pr-erection & Erection):

a)All workers on site to be properly equipped with safety harness, helmets …..etc.
b) Other workers on site to be cleared from the working area and to ensure that no one is working
below suspended load.
c)To ensure that the person giving lifting signal is qualified and that the crane operator understand
and be able to visualize and hear his commands.
d) All items must be checked to ascertain the correct weight prior to lifting operation..
e)Barricade the erection area as well as the building foundation pit area.
f) Make a separate walk way between assembly areas to tower crane foundation. Ensure safety
hand rails are fitted on both side of the walk way.

9. Manufacturer’s erection manuals:-

These manuals are already supplied and followed during the erections.
EQUIPMENTS
Hydra crane – 14 ton capacity or as per site requirement.
Hydraulic mobile crane – 50 tons – 1no for standard site conditions or as per exact site requirement.

PROGRAMME OF WORK
All the lifting gears of the crane, for e.g. Chain ropes, slings, shackles and tools used for erection will be
inspected thoroughly. All safety devices of the tower crane to be set correctly before hoisting operation.

A copy of the tower crane specification and lifting capacity were forwarded to you for verification.
