Corsa C/Tigra B/Meriva A/Combo C ECU

Reset/Programming Guide
Questions and Answers!
Q - What modules are involved in the ECU change?

A – The BCM, Immobiliser and IPC are involves in the ECU programming

Q – Can opcom/Vauxcom program a USED ecu?

A – Opcom/Vauxcom can program a USED ECU providing the donor ECU is

from the same engine code and has been reset before removal from the donor
car.

Q – Can opcom/Vauxcom program a NEW ECU direct from Vauxhall?

A – No because the ECU will need SPS updating to install the software – opcom
cannot do this.

Q – Ive not got my passcode for my car – what can I do?

A – If you don’t then you need to read it from the IPC(instruments). This
however must be done using 1.39 firmware if using 2010 software. NOTE –
firmware can be changed using OCFlash BUT only on the 2007, 2010 and
opcom_new boards. Firmware CANNOT be changed on 2013 boards. SEE LINK
BELOW

Q – What can I do if the donor ECU has not been reset and I don’t have the
passcode?

A – If it is just an ECU by itself then you cannot use this unless you can have the
code pulled from the ECU EEPROM. (opcom does not support this). If you have
the IPC from the donor car then you can fit it to your car – pull the code from
the EEPROM menu and use this and then either fit your clocks back or keep the
new ones fitted.
Q – Can I still use the donor ECU if it has not been reset but has the passcode
with it?

A – Yes. You can fit it to your car and reset using the donor code – If this fails
then you need to reset the immobiliser, BCM and IPC one at a time and
reprogram them using the donor passcode and NOT the cars passcode. This
will require NEW ID40 Chips to be fitted to the key and the keys
reprogramming back to the immobiliser.

WARNING – Before resetting the ECU you must check that you can access the
BCM, Immobiliser and IPC(instrument) and each system will accept your
passcode. If any of the systems do not accept the passcode DO NOT reset the
ECU and see further advice.

ECU Reset

To reset the ECU you must do the following:-

Connect to the ECU by following these steps

Connect opcom to your vehicle and turn ignition on and start the
Opcom/Vauxcom program.

Diagnostics>
Year>
Corsa C/Meriva A/Tigra B/Combo C
Engine>[pick engine code]
Programming>
Security code>[enter your 4 digit pass code] – read from IPC eeprom if needed
Can Configuration> [make note of ALL settings] – exit back to programming
Variant Configuration> [make note of ALL settings] – exit back to programming
VIN number> [make note of VIN] – exit back to programming
Reset ECU > [you will get a warning] – accept the warning

The ECU is now reset to factory state.

If you are changing the ECU then you must disconnect the battery before
changing the ECU then reconnect afterwards. You will need the radio code if
you have original radio fitted
ECU programming

To program the ECU you must do the following:-

Connect opcom to your vehicle and turn ignition on and start the
Opcom/Vauxcom program.

Diagnostics>
Year>
Corsa C/Meriva A/Tigra B/Combo C>
Body>
Immobiliser II>
Programming>
Security Code> [enter your passcode] – exit back to programming
Program Immobiliser Function> Choose ECM replaced and click “DO IT” – Exit
and go to engine section (pick your engine code).
Once connected to the ECU go to:
Programming>
Security code>[enter code]
Can Configuration>Set the configuration and press program
Variant Configuration>Set the configuration and press program
VIN number>Check this is correct

The programming of the ECU is now complete. If your car does not start then
you will also need to reset/program the BCM and then the IPC(instruments).
These should be done one at a time in this order (BCM/IPC). See other how2
guides for BCM and IPC reset/programming.

NOTE – Sometimes the ECU will fail to program the variant/can configuration –
If this happens don’t worry. You will first need to reset/program the BCM and
IPC and then return to the ECU to program the variant/can configuration.

Once you have programmed the ECU and you are happy you need to scan
BCM, ECU, Immobiliser II and IPC and clear all fault codes.

Close down the program and turn off ignition and disconnect the interface.
You need to wait 60 seconds to allow everything to close down
