Q/Ans

Q1. write a short note tropical evergreen forest.

Ans *These forests are also known as Tropical rain forests.
•These forests do not shed their leaves.
•These forests are found in areas receiving more than 200 cm of
annual rainfall.
•Ebony, Mahogany and Rosewood are typical trees of these forests.

Q2. write two characteristics of the tropical monsoon forest

Ans-ssTwo characteristics of tropical monsoon forests are:-

*Forests have predominantly broad-leafed trees and they shed their leaves
during the dry season to conserve moisture.

* Trees are medium in height (30-40meter)

Q3. How can we conserve our forests?
Ans Some important ways of conserving forests are-
*Protection of forest reserves.
* afforestation – large scale plantation of trees to increase the
area under forests.
•Protection of forests from forest fires
•Encouraging social forestry.
•Encouraging school children to participate in awareness
programmes like Van Mahotsava at school, state and national
level.

Q1. Discuss the natural vegetation found in temperate regions
Ans-In temperate regions natural vegetation includes large cone shaped
trees which have straight trunk and small branches.
Trees like pine, deodar, fur and spruce are the main trees of this vegetation.
Growth of these trees stops in summer season.
Leaves of such trees are thick and needle shaped and these properties of
leaves protect them from extreme colder climate because such thick leaves
reduces the rate of evaporation through leaf surface.

found in our world and they are many..
• But they are decreasing in number so for that we
should conserve by increasing awareness among
school children to participate in the wildlife
conservation program like social forestry..
• It state that wildlife conservation should go hand in
hand as the survival of animal is largely depended on
forest..
Q4.Describe some steps taken by the government
to conserve plants and animals.
Ans-The government is taking much initiative to
protect the plants and animals of country by
introducing many awareness programs like van
mohatsava and special forestry programmes.
They are also protecting them by building
national parks, wildlife sanctuary and biosphere
reserve.

HOTS Question
Q1. why do trees in coniferous forests have
needle like leaves?
Ans Conifers, or cone-bearing trees, evolved
to have needles that retain more water and
seeds that could hang out until there was
enough moisture to take root. Needles
have lower wind resistance than big,
flat leaves, so they're less likely to make the
tree fall over during a big storm.
