I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. Identify the correct operation (multiplication or division) to solve word problems.


2. Solve one-step word problems involving multiplication and division.
3. Apply problem-solving strategies in real-life situations.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Solving Word Problems Involving Multiplication and Division
Materials: Flashcards, charts, worksheets, visual aids
Reference: Mathematics Curriculum Guide, Grade 3 Textbook
Values Integration: Patience and perseverance in solving problems

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer – Lead a short prayer.


2. Greetings – Welcome students warmly.
3. Review – Recall previous lessons on multiplication and division facts.
4. Motivation – Show a simple riddle or puzzle related to numbers.

B. Presentation of the Lesson

1. Present the problem:


o "There are 5 boxes of chocolates. Each box contains 8 chocolates. How many
chocolates are there in total?"
2. Discuss the steps in solving:
o Understand the problem.
o Plan the solution (choose multiplication or division).
o Solve and show the solution.
o Check the answer.
3. Solve another problem together:
o "Maria has 24 candies and wants to share them equally among 6 friends. How
many candies will each friend get?"
4. Discuss keywords that help identify operations:

o Division: "shared equally," "divided among," "per group"
