Exploring Horizons
The Artistic Career of Fernando Moya Delgado: from Guayaquil to New York.

Fernando Moya Delgado, a talented 29-year-old Ecuadorian young man, tells us how with
passion, effort and determination, he has successfully built his career in the world of the arts in
New York.

Since his childhood and adolescence, Fernando Moya Delgado has showed interest in the arts,
actively participating in school plays and musicals. This initial interest evolved over time through
theater, dance and music classes, which allowed him to fall deeply in love with that world.

During that time, he performed with the Fantoche theater group and studied at Novadanza;
these experiences marked a before and after in the life of the young artist, especially dance,
which stopped being an extracurricular activity to become his true vocation. Together with the
aforementioned academy, he took part in several international competitions representing
Ecuador at the school level, and was part of the Ecuadorian Dance Team and its so-called
ECUADOR HIP-HOP TEAM.

These experiences in the world of dance and theater, parallel to his student life, broadened his
perspectives. Seeing that his passion for art was awakening, he began to analyze the idea of
choosing a career that matched his dreams. Discipline has been present in all areas of his life and,
thanks to his impeccable student record and his bilingual education, the United States was the
country he chose to continue his artistic training.

This is how he arrived in New York, supported by his family and following his vocation. After many
applications to various universities in the United States, he was admitted to Pace University to
study a BFA in Acting for Film and Television, where he got a commercial dance major.

Despite the challenges of studying in a foreign country and in a language other than his mother
tongue, Fernando knew how to take advantage of every opportunity and make his way, which led
him to successfully complete his career.
After finishing his university studies, he began a very challenging new stage: the world of
auditions, where his technical abilities and future prospects were evaluated in each performance,
which allowed him to join several dance companies, such as Megan Curet's, with whom he
performed in Ecuador in 2019, and the You&I Company, led by director Allie Marotta, with whom
he works to this day. Experience and talent were crucial for this young artist to be recognized by
important dance companies in the United States.

An important chapter in Fernando's career was his foray into immersive theater, a style that
breaks the fourth wall and actively involves the audience. He has performed in important plays
such as Inside the box and Dreams of Dracula. This genre led him to perform on the streets of
New York and work with companies such as Facebook, Netflix, Amaro Montenegro, among
others. One of his most significant experiences has been working with Jennie Willink on the
immersive play called The Stranger and Zerospace.

In recent years, Fernando has undergone training in the United States to work with neurodiverse
people, demonstrating his commitment to inclusion in the arts. Despite the challenges and
multiple auditions, his focus and dedication remain unwavering in this never-ending artistic
marathon.

Fernando Moya Delgado, an artist who loves both Ecuador and New York, is a living example of
how passion and discipline can open doors to extraordinary opportunities in the fascinating world
of art. His desire to bring immersive theater to his homeland is a clear example of his
commitment to the cultural and artistic development in Ecuador.

Highlights:

A milestone in his career was collaborating with the creative team of Queen of the Night, a play
that inspired him when he was in his second year at university. This represented the realization of
one of his biggest dreams.

Although the artist lives in New York, his ties with Ecuador have remained strong, as he delivers
seminars and performances in plays and shows with Novadanza, Clap, Teatro Centro de Arte,
among others.

He was a pioneer in the introduction of the micro-theater in Ecuador.

He is currently working on the play Frolic along with the Jumping Jack Theater and Trusty
Sidekicks companies.

Immersive Theater

IMMERSIVE THEATER is an intimate and immediate form of contemporary performance that has
been developed over the last 15 years in Northern Europe and the United States.

The audience is no longer made up of passive spectators, but they are now part of the act, no
matter how small their role may be, they are immersed in the action. They can be led from room
to room. They might be invited to become an active part of the performance. The lines between
the performer and the audience, and between fiction and life are blurred.

The audience is immersed in the story and not just a witness. The audience is in the place of
events without the distancing factor of a proscenium.
