Group Problem Solving Activity

The school principal holds weekly meetings with faculty to address student-related issues, aiming to improve student well-being and facilitate group problem-solving. While these meetings enhance communication and collaboration, they may also lead to stress and time management challenges for staff. Suggestions for improvement include involving parents and creating student partnerships to foster support among students.

1.

The principle of the school is holding regular team meetings wish his faculty and the
staff. The frequency of the meetings is that every Wednesday morning the meetings
occur. The kind of issues the principle wishes to address are student-related issues
which includes conflicts, online safety, student challenges, and the overall well being of
the students.
2. The regular meeting are able to help the team to communicate better, work together, and
to solve problems. The outcomes that the principle wishes to see are the improvement of
the well being of students, to ensure they are responsible, and to handle conflicts early.
3. By holding these meeting regularly this could end up being time consuming and could
even overwhelm some of the staff. Some resulting conflicts that might arise are conflicts
and even more added stress for teachers with such a busy schedules.
4. The principles approach shows group problem solving by having these regular meetings
where everyone can share ideas, talk to one another, and solve problems as a group.
This can help with making sure that issues can be identified much earlier and solutions
can be thought of together as a group.
5. The attitudes of some of the faculty and staff that regularly attended the meeting were
probably on board because they could address students issues and improve their well
being. However, some of the staff and faculty could have reacted negatively due to how
much of their time was taken out of their day just to attend the meeting as well as the
added stress.
6. If I was the principle of the of the school some ways I would approach the problems of
the school would be to have a parent involvement meeting and a student partnership
program. The parent involvement meeting would help parents to engage through regular
meeting and address their kids issues together. The student partnership program would
pair kids together to be able to provide support for one another and help each other out
while giving guidance.
7. The roles that the group members exemplify are such as being problem solvers, and
supporters. The principle had displayed a collaborative leadership style by encouraging
staff and faculty to have open communication with one another.
8. The role type that is Administrator best exemplifies me because usually when I am
working in a group with other people they tend to get off task and talk about other things,
so I always have to be the one to remind them what we are doing or supposed to be
getting done.
The role type that is Gatekeepers best exemplifies me because I always make sure then
everyone in the group has contributed to the conversation and has given their idea.
For the third category I don’t think that I exemplify any of the role types, but if I had to
choose one then I guess I would choose Avoiders. I would choose this because
sometimes I guess I don’t contribute to the group discussion.
