Area #9:
Your Adventures
Getting out of our home and work environments is vital to
keep our outlook on life fresh and full of wonder.
The quality of our adventures will have a direct influence on
our overall sense of life balance and satisfaction.
Consider creating some new adventures for yourself and
your loved ones, either near or far, to reinvigorate your
creativity and help to get extended rest and relaxation.
To give your adventures a boost, try the tips on the
following pages.
1. Challenge
Yourself
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out
eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience,” - Eleanor Roosevelt.
Don’t get too comfortable. When we challenge ourselves to get out of our comfort
zone, research shows we rise to the occasion, grow, and perform at our peak.

2. Go
Local
Adventures come in all shapes and sizes, and many of
them are right on our doorstep.
A local adventure can be as simple as connecting with nature: swimming,
cycling, nature walks, or camping.
Try exploring your local streets for cafes and bars that you may have never
known existed.
As creatures of habit, we are often missing out on some incredible experiences
by sticking to what we know.
Challenge yourself to find out what’s happening in your local area.
Actions
Try:
Think “outside the square” and explore your own neighbourhood.

3. Explore
New Lands
Travelling to an unknown, faraway destination and immersing yourself
in an unfamiliar culture can be exhilarating, educational and restorative
(all at the same time!).
Overseas travel expands our understanding of the world and can teach
us as much about our own country and culture as we can learn about others.
To push ourselves out of our comfort zone, nothing beats navigating our way
through an unfamiliar foreign environment, learning new languages, customs a
nd traditions (not to mention learning how to navigate maps and crazy traffic laws!).
Actions
Try:
Plan your year ahead by factoring in 1 (or 2) major international trips

4. Make
a Plan
Whatever adventure you choose, take your time to plan and dream.
Create a travel vision board and research potential destinations with abandon.
Studies suggest as much (if not more) enjoyment comes in the anticipation as
the journey.
Set up a separate Holiday savings account and automate regular payments so
you’re well prepared.
Actions
Try:
Make a vision board with the destinations you’d love to explore in the future.
