Course Learning Outcomes (Course Objectives)

At the end of the course, the students will:

1. Distinguish different interpretations of and approaches to globalization.


2. Describe the emergence of global economic, political, social, and cultural systems
3. Analyze the various contemporary drivers of globalization
4. Understand the issues confronting the nation-state.
5. Assess the effects of globalization on different social units and their responses.
6. Analyze contemporary newest events in the context of globalization.
7. Analyze global issues in relation to Filipinos and the Philippines
8. Write a research paper with proper citations on a topic related to globalization
9. Articulate personal positions on various global issues
10. Identify the ethical implications of global citizenship

CLASSROOM POLICIES:

The student’s responsibility is to come to each class prepared. It is also expected to take all examinations on the date scheduled. They should
read the assigned lessons prior to class. They are expected to attend each class and participate actively in the discussions.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY

All students are expected to be academically honest. Cheating, lying and other forms of immoral and unethical behaviour will not be tolerated. Any
student found guilty of cheating in examinations or plagiarism in submitted course requirements will be subjected for disciplinary deliberation. Plagiarism
and cheating refer to the use of unauthorized books, notes or otherwise securing help in a test; copying tests, assignments, reports or term papers;
representing the work of another person as one’s own; collaborating without authority, with another student during an examination or in preparing academic
work; signing another student’s name on an attendance sheet; or otherwise practicing scholastic dishonesty

POLICY ON ABSENCES:

The allowed number of absences for the student enrolled in a 3-unit course with 2 meetings in a week is 12 based on student handbook. Request for
excused absences or waiver of absences must be presented upon reporting back to class. Special examinations will be allowed only in special cases, such as
prolonged illness. It is the responsibility of the student to monitor her own tardy incidents and absences that might accumulate leading to a grade of “FA” or
Failure due to Absences. It is also his/her responsibility to consult with the teacher, chair or dean should his/her case be of special nature.
