Asking for Help (Extended Speaking Practice - Beginner Level)

🎯 Objective:
By the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
✅ Ask for help in different airport situations using simple English.
✅ Understand and respond to common directions and assistance at the airport.
✅ Gain confidence in using English to interact with airport staff.

🕒 Duration: 60 minutes

1️⃣Warm-Up Activity (10 minutes)


🎯 Goal: Review previous lessons and introduce today’s topic.

1. Quick Review of Day 4:


o Ask: "What do you say if you can’t find your gate?"
o Ask: "How do you ask someone to speak slowly?"
o Have the student recall 3 words from yesterday’s lesson.
2. Introducing Today’s Lesson:
o Show pictures of people asking for help at the airport.
o Ask: "What do you say when you don’t know something?"
o Teach: "Today, we will learn how to ask for help when you are lost, confused,
or need assistance."

2️⃣Vocabulary Building (10 minutes)


🎯 Goal: Learn simple, useful phrases for asking for help.

Phrase Use Example Sentence

🎯 Goal: Practice longer, realistic conversations in different airport situations.

Scenario 1: Asking for Directions

🔹 Role-Play: (Teacher = Airport Staff, Student = Passenger)

✅ Dialogue 1: Finding a Gate

Student: "Excuse me, where is Gate 10?"


Teacher: "Gate 10 is straight ahead, then turn right."
Student: "I’m sorry, can you repeat that?"
Teacher: "Sure! Walk straight, then turn right."
Student: "Thank you very much!"

✔ Activity: Change gate numbers and directions, let the student ask naturally.

Scenario 2: Asking for Help with Understanding
