Now, let's take a look at how Sephora approaches sustainability in three different ways, and I'll

explain how the innovations relate to the SDGs.

Social
No discrimination/ Diversity/ Equity
First off, let’s talk about how Sephora meets diversity to maintain social sustainability.
Sephora actively promotes diversity among its leadership teams and employees. They have refined
their hiring processes, mentoring programs, and internships, to make sure that there is no bias during
the recruitment.
Sephora has introduced training modules covering topics like antiracism and unconscious bias for all
of its staff to create a more inclusive shopping experience.
With that being said, Sephora is advancing SDG 10 (Reduce inequalities) in this aspect.

Insurance, Health & Wellness

Now, let's talk about how Sephora cares for its employees and how it connects to SDG 3 - Good
Health and Well-Being.
First off, Sephora goes the extra mile when it comes to employee benefits. They offer a range of
medical, vision, and dental plans for both full and part-time employees. Plus, they provide an
Employee Assistance Program in place to provide support for mental health and emotional well-being.
But Sephora doesn't stop there. They understand that work-life balance is crucial. So, they offer
competitive paid time off, which includes vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
By prioritizing the health and happiness of their employees, Sephora builds a sustainable and
productive workforce. This way, they ensure that their team isn't just beautiful but also healthy and
happy.

Economical
1Expanding Market (Racial, age, product- skincare)
Last year, Sephora signed a Pledge to expanding their supply chain and product selection, especially
by adding more Black-owned brands. In just one year, they more than doubled the number of
Black-owned brands they offer.
By bringing in more diverse brands, Sephora creates opportunities for a broader range of people. It
ensures that the variety of products meets the diverse needs and preferences of its customers. Which
illustrates the positive impact of achieving SDG 10, reducing inequalities.

1Consumer Satisfaction/ Relationship

(SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production)
At Sephora, building trust is prioritized with the customers. A remarkable 61% of the in-store
shoppers and 55% of online shoppers highlight the trust they have in the brand as a top reason for
choosing Sephora. This trust forms the foundation of long-lasting relationships.
Through trust-building, and personalization, which includes customized advice and free makeup
try-ons, Sephora's efforts right here are approaching SDG 12 - "Responsible Consumption and
Production."

2Financial:
Moving on, in 2022, Sephora achieved its strongest year yet, marking record sales and profits.
According to the financial statement, their revenue in the first half of 2022 was 22% higher than the
previous year, and profits from recurring operations rose by a remarkable 181%.
2Potential:
Furthermore, Sephora values market research, as the world shifts towards digital shopping, Sephora
understands the importance of staying adaptable. By keeping an eye on changing shopping habits and
customer expectations, Sephora ensures its long-term profitability.

In conclusion, Sephora's success in an ever-changing world is made possible by its commitment to

economic growth and sustainability, which helps it accomplish SDG 8 - "Decent Work and Economic
Growth."

Environmental

Reusable Packaging & Sourcing

Now, let's talk about how Sephora handles packaging:
Sephora is making packages easier to recycle. By 2023, 75% of the packaging will be recyclable,
aiming for 90% by 2025.
They've introduced the label Clean + Planet Positive to showcase eco-friendly products, which
Momoko will further discuss in the following presentation.

Next, let's dig into sourcing standards:

Their products are free of any ingredients on Sephora's Restricted Substances List (RSL),
guaranteeing product safety.
When it comes to MICA mines, Sephora takes responsible sourcing very seriously to prevent any
involvement in child and forced labour. And they make sure that the MICA used in makeup products
comes from trustworthy suppliers.
In summary, Sephora's commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with SDG 12. The packaging
criteria emphasize reduction, recycling, and innovative initiatives. Additionally, the strict sourcing
criteria ensure ethical practices and product safety.

Online retail
Sephora committed to a 50% reduction in carbon footprint across stores, headquarters, and
distribution centers by 2026, showcasing its dedication to environmental responsibility.
Online shopping inherently reduces carbon emissions by minimizing trips to physical stores.
Efficient inventory management in the e-commerce platform significantly reduces overstocking,
minimizing waste and environmental impact. Also, online shopping contributes by reducing the need
for single-use plastic bags.
Furthermore, remote work for employees reduces daily commuting, leading to lower energy
consumption.
These actions again meet SDG 12, aiming to create a greener planet.

Some of the factors that keep Google's attrition high are:

Reputation of the company, Impactful Work, and Flexible Work Arrangements

Our advice to Sephora to reduce attrition in order to improve its economic and social sustainability is
to improve job satisfaction by offering flexible work hours, boost motivation among employees by
providing performance rewards, and emphasize employee value by emphasizing the importance of
each employee's role.
