PRACTICE EXAM
Part 3
M: So we must think about the best thing for the tennis club
to do to celebrate its anniversary. What do you think about
the picnic? That’s a nice idea because everyone can talk to
each other and enjoy themselves.
F: I agree, but it isn’t very special. I have a picnic quite often
with my family. The club needs something more unusual. Do
you think the concert is a good idea?
M: Yes, it might be good but maybe it’ll be difficult to find
music that everyone will like. I prefer the idea of having
fireworks – a big fireworks display would be more special
than a picnic and fireworks are always fun to watch. They’re
exciting, too!
F: That’s a good point. What about the big screen? That
might be fun and different.
M: The problem is that if people are watching the screen then
they won’t talk to each other. I don’t like that idea. I think the
shop is a better idea because people can buy a souvenir so
they’ll remember the celebration later on.
F: Yes, you’re right. Maybe they should do two things – the
fireworks display and the shop.
M: That’s a good suggestion. I don’t think the tennis
tournament is a good plan. It might take a long time, and not
everyone will take part. It’s also not very different from what
people do in the club all the time.
F: Yes, I agree – so let’s choose the shop and the fireworks.
Part 4
Are there many sports clubs where you live? (Why? / Why
not?)
Yes, there’s a good tennis club about ten minutes from my
house. In fact, my sister plays there and she’s very good. I go
there sometimes to play with her.
Have you ever belonged to any kind of sports club or gym?
(Why? / Why not?)
I belong to a local gym because I like to keep fit. I go there
twice a week. There’s also a swimming pool there. I like
swimming after I’ve done exercise in the gym.
What’s your favourite sport? (Why?)
My favourite sport is football. It’s a great game and it’s very
exciting! My friends like it, too.
Do you prefer watching sport or playing it? (Why?)
I like playing sport but I’m not very good at anything really. I
love watching football on television every Saturday with my
friends.
Is it important for everyone to do sport? (Why? / Why not?)
I think it’s very important because it’s necessary to keep fit
and healthy. Also if you play a team sport like football, you
can learn a lot about getting on with other people. It’s fun,
too, even if you’re not very good!
