LEARNING KIT IN MATHEMATICS 10
GRADE LEVEL STANDARD DESCRIPTION: This learning kit is an innovative tool produced by SPDCSS
to meet the standards of the K to 12 Curriculum in providing our teachers relevant to learners’ understanding of
key concepts and principles of patterns and algebra (sequences, series, polynomials, polynomial equations,
and polynomial functions); geometry (circles and coordinate geometry); and statistics and probability
(combinatorics and probability, and measures of position) as applied - using appropriate technology - in critical
thinking, problem solving, reasoning, communicating, making connections, representations, and decisions in
real life.
Grade 10 – FIRST QUARTER
A. CONTENT: Patterns and Algebra
B. CONTENT STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sequences,
polynomials and polynomial equations.
C. PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving
sequences, polynomials and polynomial equations in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate
representations.

B. Guide Questions (Activity 2):
1. How are you able to describe the patterns in activity 2?
By the appearance
2. Can you generalize your descriptions in activity 2 if there is no pattern? Why or why not? (Answer
must be in complete sentences)
No, because if were not able to describe them we won’t know the answer

Activity 4. What I have so Far?
Elaborate the following concepts using your own words or phrases on the space provided.
1. A sequence is a set of things especially numbers that are in order
2. The rule or pattern of a sequence if add or subtract a number each time it is arithmetic sequence. If
multiply or divide by number each time it is geometric sequence
3. Terms are single mathematical expression
4. Extremes are first and last term of a sequence
5. Means are terms between the first and last term
6. Finite sequence is never ending number of terms
7. Infinite sequence is endless progression of discrete objects
8. {-2, -7, -12, -17, …} is an example of an infinite sequence.
9. {2, 6, 18, 54} is an example of a finite sequence.
10. A general term is used to calculate any number in an arithmetic sequence
11. I can apply the concepts of sequences in real-life scenario such as useful in our daily lives as well as in
higher mathematics. for example the interest portion of monthly payments made to pay off an
automobile or home loan, and the list of maximum daily temperatures in one area for a month

What I Know about What I learned about Sequences? What I want to Clarify
Sequences? about the concepts of
Sequence
At first, my idea about I learned that sequence is an enumerated I want to clarify more
sequences is a set of things collection of objects in which repetitions are
especially numbers allowed and order matters
