DROPS Sweater in Cotton Chenille with cables

Size: S – M – L
Finished measurements:
Chest measurements: 112 (120-126 cm) = 44” (47 1/4”-49 1/2”)
Full length: 62 (64-66) cm = 24 3/8” (25 1/4”-26”)
All measurements in chart are in cm.
Materials: DROPS Cotton Chenille from Garnstudio
850-900-950 g color no 9, red

DROPS pointed and double pointed needles size 3.5 and 4 mm = US 4 and US 6, or size needed
to obtain the right knitting gauge

Knitting Gauge: 14 sts x 26 rows on needle size 4 mm = US 6 in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm =


4” x 4”. M.1 = width approx 16 cm = 6 1/4”, M.2 = width approx 9.5 cm = 3 3/4”.
NB! If using Vienna, knitting gauge 14 sts x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm = 4” x 4”.
Pattern: See diagram. 1 diagram = 1 repeat. Diagram shows the pattern from the RS.
Rib: *K2, P2*, repeat from *-*.
Vienna: Dec materials by approx 30%. Use needle size 5 and 6 mm = US 8 and US US 10.
Inc and dec as follows:
Alter every other row to every other and every 3rd row alternately.
Alter every 5th row to every 8th row
Alter every 4th and 5th row alternately to every 7th row.

Front piece: Cast on 82-86-90 sts (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 3 mm = US 2,5 work
10 cm = 4” rib with 1 edge st each side. Change to needle size 4 mm = US 6 and continue in
pattern as follows, at the same time inc 18-20-20 sts evenly on first row = 100-106-110 sts: 1
edge st, 1-4-6 sts in reverse stockinette st, 2 repeats of M.2, M.1, 2 repeats of M.2, 1-4-6 sts in
reverse stockinette st, 1 edge st. Remember your knitting gauge. When piece measures 37-39-
40 cm = 14 1/2”-15 1/4”-15 3/4” bind off for armhole each side on every other row: 2 sts 1-2-2
times, 1 st 2-2-3 times = 92-94-96 sts. When piece measures 56-58-60 cm = 22”-22 3/4”-23
5/8” bind off the middle 18-20-20 sts for neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other
row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times. Bind off when piece measures 62-64-66 cm =
24 3/8”-25 1/4”-26”

Back piece: Cast on and knit like front piece. When piece measures 60-62-64 cm = 23 5/8”-24
3/8”-25 1/4” bind off the middle 32-34-34 sts for neck and dec 2 sts on neckline on next row.
Bind off remaining sts when piece measures 62-64-66 cm = 24 3/8”-25 1/4”-26”.

Sleeves: Cast on 34-34-34 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 3 mm = US 2,5 and
work 5 cm = 2” rib with 1 edge st each side. Change to needle size 4 mm = US 6, inc 6-6-10 sts
evenly on row, and continue in pattern as follows: 1 edge st, 3-3-5 sts in reverse stockinette st,
2 repeats of M.2, 3-3-5 sts in reverse stockinette st, 1 edge st = 40-40-44 sts. At the same time
after the rib inc 1 st each side inside edge st a total of 20-20-19 times on every 4th and 5th row
alternately for size S + M and on every 5th row for size L = 80-80-82 sts. When piece measures
46-45-45 cm = 18”-17 3/4”-17 3/4” bind off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 4 sts
7 times. Bind off, sleeve measures approx 52-51-51 cm = 20 1/2”-20”-20”.

Assembly: Join shoulders. Set in sleeves and sew sleeve and side seams. Pick up approx 56 sts
round the neckline on double pointed needle size 3 mm = US 2,5 and work 9 cm = 3 1/2” rib,
bind off.
