Universal Joints (U-Joints) Identification
U-Joint Identification
TRP has a wide range of all-make u-joints available. Using the
following directions can help you identify the correct yoke and
u-joint. Once identified, use the cross-reference to find the
appropriate TRP part number.
With the Spicer® Yoke Ruler, you can quickly and easily
measure a driveshaft yoke to determine the series of a
driveshaft that is compatible with your yoke. Once the
driveshaft series is identified, refer to the charts in this Job Aid
to determine the correct u-joint kits for that series.
Measurements for u-joint kits should be made with a caliper or
micrometer and determined by using the dimensional charts in
Spicer’s K350 Universal Joint Kits and Center Bearing Product Catalog.

How to Measure a Yoke
This section will demonstrate how to use the yoke ruler to determine the correct driveshaft series when all you have is a
yoke from a driveshaft. Refer to the following charts for u-joint kit number choices.

version or a Spicer Yoke Ruler that is not in perfect condition. Misidentifying any driveline component can

With help from the Spicer Yoke Ruler and the Yoke and U-Joint Measurement (J3348) Catalog,
you can quickly and easily identify the proper driveshaft series and u-joint options for your customer.

Meaure a Full-Round

TRP Center Bearing
NOTE: Remind your customers to visually inspect all of the center bearings within the driveline. They should inspect the
center bearing bracket bolts for looseness; inspect the center bearing rubber cushion for damage; inspect the center
bearing end fitting and bolt hole threads for damage; check the center bearing end fitting and fitting nut washer for any
looseness. If any of these conditions are evident, replacement of the center bearing assembly is necessary. For
