TOPIC: Word Processing
SUB-TOPIC: EXPLORING THE WORD WINDOW.
DURATION: 45 minutes
SEX: Mixed
AGE: 12+
BEHAVIORAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Identify the different components of the Microsoft Word window.
2. Describe the functions of various parts of the Word window.
3. Create a new document in Microsoft Word.
4. Save a document properly.
5. Demonstrate the ability to use basic features of Microsoft Word.

LEARNERS' PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE
Students are familiar with basic computer operations such as turning on a computer,
using a keyboard and mouse, and opening applications. They may have also encountered
Microsoft Word in earlier classes.

INTRODUCTION
Microsoft Word is a word processing application used for creating, editing, formatting,
and saving documents. Understanding the Word window and its components is essential
for effective document creation.

PRESENTATION (STEPS)
Step 1: Exploring the Word Window
 Teacher opens Microsoft Word and displays the interface on a projector or
screen.
 Students observe the layout of the Word window.
Step 2: Components of the Word Window
Teacher explains the main components of the Word window, including:
1. Title Bar – Displays the name of the document.
2. Ribbon – Contains tabs and groups with various commands.
3. Quick Access Toolbar – Provides quick access to common commands like
Save, Undo, and Redo.
4. File Tab – Gives access to file-related options such as Open, Save, and Print.
5. Document Area – The workspace where text is typed and edited.
6. Status Bar – Displays document information such as word count and page
number.
7. Scroll Bars – Used to navigate through the document.
8. Rulers – Helps with document alignment and formatting.
Step 3: Creating a New Document
 Teacher demonstrates how to create a new document by clicking on File →
New → Blank Document.
