ABSTRACTION

Based on the published responses, teach fact and opinion.

A fact refers to something true or real, which is backed up by evidence,

documentation, etc.
 A fact should be based on observation or research, should also
represents something that really happens and not debatable
since the information is true.
For example:
Humans have been to space and landed to the moon.
Many use sunlight to create nutrients from carbon
dioxide and water.

An opinion is what a person believes or thinks about something.

 Opinions are what you should avoid in your essay, and something
you should never use as evidence to support your thesis.
For example:
I like pizza.
The earth is flat.

It is actually your assumption or personal view and it is debatable

because opinion is not always true. However one’s views can be valid
depending on the bases and pragmatics.

 Facts and opinions help us determine how true a statement is thus

in any kind of article, facts and opinion can be used in developing
the paragraph to add details on the main point.

 Another way of understanding an article is through identifying its

main idea and important details about it. It checks the relationship
of the ideas to the theme or main of an article.

To determine whether the details are truths or not, you should detect:
a. Fallacies- ideas which may people believed to be true which
are in fact false because it is based on incorrect information.
b. Fact- fact stated by the writer is likely to be true if there is
source.
c. Opinion- bases should be valid and reasonable
d. Bias- statements may be given to favour one’s point.
