Lab: Configuring Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) Unified
Messaging Configuration and OCS 2007 R2 Integration
During this lab, you will configure Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) Unified Messaging (UM)
and Office Communications Server 2007 R2 integration.
The Unified Messaging component of Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) is the designed to be the
voice mail solution for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 (OCS). What it means is that
anyone can dial an Office Communications Server user and leave a voice mail which will
then be delivered to that user's Outlook inbox. The integration of Office Communication
Server 2007 R2 and Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) Unified Messaging will take users closer to
the vision Microsoft has for Unified Communications.
Estimated time to complete this lab: 60 minutes

After completing the exercises you will be able to:

Configure interoperability between Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and


Unified Messaging.
Experience the features of Microsoft Unified Communications.

Exercise 0: Preparing the Lab Environment
In this exercise you will prepare the lab environment by starting the necessary virtual
machines using the Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V Manager.

Scenario
This lab uses Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) Ignite Set A, which consists of the following
virtual machines:
Set A-DC01 - Domain Controller, DNS, CA with 1024 MB of memory.
Set A-EX2010 - Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) with 1536 MB of memory.
Set A-OCS-SE – OCS 2007 R2 Standard Edition Server with 1536 MB of memory.
Set A-OCS-MED – OCS 2007 R2 Mediation server with 1024 MB of memory.
Set A-Client01 – WS2008 - Vista Experience with 1024 MB of memory.
You will need to apply the Lab 10 Start snapshot for each of the virtual machines listed
above.

Tasks
1. Start and log on to the Set A-DC01 virtual machine.
a. On the host computer, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then
click Hyper-V Manager.
b. In Hyper-V Manager, under Virtual Machines, right-click Set A-DC01 and
then click Start.
c. Right-click Set A-DC01 again and then click Connect.
Wait for this Virtual Machine to fully start up before continuing.
d. On the Set A-DC1 Virtual Machine Connection, click the Ctrl-Alt-Delete
button on the tool-bar.
e. Log on to the nwtraders domain as administrator with a password of
pass@word1
f. Do not start any other virtual computers until this server is completely up.

Click OK to any prompts regarding any services that fail to start, and then review
Services to verify that all have started successfully.

button on the tool-bar.
d. Log on to the nwtraders domain as administrator with a password of
pass@word1

Click OK to any prompts regarding any services that fail to start, and then review
Important: Services to verify that all have started successfully. Most noticeably, check the
Exchange services.

3. Start and log on to the Set A-OCS-SE virtual machine.


a. In Hyper-V Manager, under Virtual Machines, right-click Set A-OCS-SE and
then click Start.
b. Right-click Set A-OCS-SE again and then click Connect.
Wait for this Virtual Machine to fully start up before continuing.
c. On the Set A-OCS-SE Virtual Machine Connection, click the Ctrl-Alt-
Delete button on the tool-bar.
d. Log on to the nwtraders domain as administrator with a password of
pass@word1

Click OK to any prompts regarding any services that fail to start, and then review
Important: Services to verify that all have started successfully. Most noticeably, check the OCS
2007 R2 services.

4. Start and log on to the Set A-OCS-MED virtual machine.


a. In Hyper-V Manager, under Virtual Machines, right-click Set A-OCS-MED
and then click Start.
b. Right-click Set A-OCS-MED again and then click Connect.
Wait for this Virtual Machine to fully start up before continuing.
c. On the Set A-OCS-MED Virtual Machine Connection, click the Ctrl-Alt-
Delete button on the tool-bar.

d. Log on to the nwtraders domain as administrator with a password of
pass@word1
5. Start and log on to the Set A-Client01 virtual machine.
a. In Hyper-V Manager, under Virtual Machines, right-click Set A-Client01
and then click Start.
b. Right-click Set A-Client01 again and then click Connect.
Wait for this Virtual Machine to fully start up before continuing.
c. On the Set A-Client01 Virtual Machine Connection, click the Ctrl-Alt-
Delete button on the tool-bar.
d. Log on to the nwtraders domain as Holly with a password of pass@word1

Exercise 1: Configuring Office Communications Server 2007
R2 Enterprise Voice
In this exercise, you will go through the steps of deploying Office Communications Server
2007 R2 and integration with Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) Unified Messaging. The steps
involved are:
Configure the Mediation Server.
Create a new Unified Messaging Dial Plan.
Associate the Exchange Server with new dial plan.
Create and configure Auto Attendant and Subscriber Access line.
Configure UM Test phone to work with Mediation Server.
Create a location profile and phone number normalization rules.
Run EXCHUCUTIL.PS1 and OCSUMUTIL.EXE.

The Mediation Server role installation has already been started, the first two steps are done,
installation of files and server role activation. First you will go through configure Mediation
Server. Then you will go through the steps of creating a location profile and phone number
normalization rules.

Tasks
1. Configure the Mediation Server.

a. On OCS-MED, click Start, click Administrative Tools and then click


Office Communications Server 2007 R2.
b. In the Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Administration Snap-in,
expand Forest – nwtraders.com, expand Mediation Servers, and then
click ocs-med.nwtraders.com.
c. Right-click ocs-med.nwtraders.com and then click Properties.
d. On the ocs-med.nwtraders.com Properties page, in the General tab, in the
Communications Server listening IP address drop-down list, select
10.0.1.70.
This tells the Mediation Server to listen on this interface for Office
Communications Server communications.
e. In the Gateway listening IP address drop-down list, select 10.0.1.71.
This tells the Mediation Server to use this interface to listen for traffic from the
SIP-PSTN gateway.
f. Leave the rest of the settings on this tab as their defaults.
g. Click the Next Hop Connections tab.

h. Under Office Communications Server next hop, in the FQDN drop-down
list, select ocs-se.nwtraders.com.
i. Under PSTN Gateway next hop, in the IP address field, type 10.0.1.250 and
then in the Port field, accept the default of 5060 and then click OK.
We do not have a SIP-PSTN gateway for this event, but will use the IP Address
10.0.1.250 to represent the SIP-PSTN gateway.
j. Click OK to the A/V Edge Server warning prompt.
k. Click OK to the location profile not selected warning prompt.
l. Click OK to the Active Directory replication warning prompt.
m. Click OK to the warning prompt regarding restarting the Mediation Server
service.
Leave the Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Administration Snap-in
running.
2. Configure a Certificate for the Mediation Server.
a. On OCS-MED, in the Office Communications Server 2007 R2,
Administration Snap-in, right-click ocs-med.nwtraders.com and then click
Certificates.
b. On the Welcome page, click Next.
c. On the Available Certificate Tasks page, click Create a new certificate and
then click Next.
d. On the Delayed or Immediate Request page, select Send request
immediately to an online certificate authority, and then click Next.
e. On the Name and Security Settings page, in the Name field, verify that OCS-
MED is entered and that Mark cert as exportable is selected, and then
click Next.
f. On the Organization Information page, in the Organization field, type
NWTraders and in the Organizational unit field, type IT and then click
Next.
g. On the Your Server’s Subject Name page, in the Subject name box, verify
that OCS-MED.nwtraders.com is entered and the click Next.
h. On the Geographical Information page, type Washington for the
State/Province and Redmond for the City/Locality, and then click Next.
i. On the Choose a Certification Authority page, verify that
DC01.nwtraders.com\nwtraders-DC01-CA is selected, and then click
Next.

j. On the Request Summary page, click Next.
k. On the Certificate Wizard Completed page, verify Assign certificate
immediately is selected and then click Next.
l. On the Configure the Certificate(s) of your Server page, click Next.
m. On the Certificate Wizard completed successfully page, click Finish.
Leave the Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Administration Snap-in
running.
3. On EX2010, create a new Unified Messaging dial plan.
a. On Ex2010, switch to the Exchange Management Console.
b. In the Exchange Management Console, in the Navigation pane, expand
Microsoft Exchange On-Premise, expand Organization Configuration
and then click Unified Messaging.
c. In the Actions pane, click New UM Dial Plan.
d. On the New UM Dial Plan wizard, on the New UM Dial Plan page, in the
Name field, type redmond
e. Leave the Number of digits in extension numbers field as the default of 5.
f. In the URI Type drop-down menu, select SIP URI .
g. In the VoIP security drop-down menu, select Secured and then click New.
h. On the Completion page, click Finish.
4. On EX2010, edit the UM Mailbox Policy.
a. On Ex2010, in the Exchange Management Console, click the UM Mailbox
Policies tab.
b. In the Details pane, right-click redmond Default Policy and then click
Properties.
c. On the redmond Default Policy Properties page, click the Protected Voice
Mail tab.
d. In the Protect voice messages from unauthenticated callers drop-down
list, select Private.
e. In the Protect voice messages from authenticated callers drop-down
list, select Private.
f. In the Specify the text to display to voice mail recipients who have e-
mail clients that do not support rights management box, type Your e-
mail client does not support rights management. Protected voice mail
will not be available to you. and then click OK.

5. On EX2010, associate the UM Server with the new UM Dial Plan.
a. On Ex2010, in the Exchange Management Console, expand Server
Configuration and then click Unified Messaging.
b. In the Details pane, right click EX2010 and then click Properties.
c. On the EX2010 Properties page, click the UM Settings tab.
d. Under Associated Dial Plans, click Add.
e. On the Select Dial Plan page, click redmond and then click OK.
f. On the EX2010 Properties page, click OK.
6. On EX2010, run the EXCHUCUTIL.PS1 script.
a. On Ex2010, click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Exchange
Server 2010 and then click Exchange Management Shell.
b. In the Exchange Management Shell, type cd “c:\program
files\microsoft\exchange server\v14\scripts” and then press Enter.
c. In the Exchange Management Shell, type .\exchucutil.ps1 and then press
Enter.
d. Wait for the script to finish and review the displayed information.
a. Write down the name listed as the UMIPGateway. This should be OCS-SE.
7. On EX2010, set the UM IP Gateway.
a. On Ex2010, in the Exchange Management Shell, type the following command
and then press Enter.
Set-umipgateway –identity ocs-se –port 5061

8. On EX2010, create a new auto attendant.


a. On Ex2010, in the Exchange Management Console, click Organization
Configuration, click Unified Messaging and then click the UM Auto
Attendants tab.
b. In the Actions pane, click New UM Auto Attendant.
c. On the New UM Auto Attendant wizard, on the New UM Auto Attendant
page, in the Name field, type NWTraders_AA
d. Next to Select associated dial plan, click Browse.
e. On the Select Dial Plan page, click redmond and then click OK.
f. In the Extension numbers field, type NWTraders_AA and then click Add.
g. Select the Create auto attendant as enabled and Create auto attendant
as speech-enabled check boxes and then click New.

h. On the Completion page, click Finish.
9. On EX2010, get the phone-context for the new UM Dial Plan.
a. On Ex2010, in the Exchange Management Shell, type the following command
and then press Enter.
Get-umdialplan –identity redmond | FL

b. Find the line called PhoneContext and write this value down.
Example: redmond.2b1e36ba-416d-477d-ad5b-97dd33c2c48a It may be easiest
to copy this value to Notepad and then save it on the OCS-SE server to prevent
typing errors.
c. Close the Exchange Management Shell.
10. Create and configure a Location Profile.
a. On OCS-SE, click Start, click Administrative Tools and then click Office
Communications Server 2007 R2.
b. In the Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Administration Snap-in,
right-click Forest-nwtraders.com, click Properties and then click Voice
Properties.
c. On the Office Communications Server Voice Properties page, on the
Location Profiles tab, click Add.
d. In the Add Location Profile dialog box, in the Name field, type the
PhoneContext value you wrote down in the previous procedure.
e. In the Display text field, type NWTraders Main Office in Redmond
You will now add a normalization rule for this location profile.
f. Under Normalization Rules, click Add.
g. In the Add Phone Number Normalization Rule dialog box, perform the
following steps:
1. In the Name field, type Main Office 5 Digit Extensions
2. In the Description field, type Normalizes Main Office 5 digit
extensions to +142555XXXXX
3. In the Phone pattern regular expression field, type (no spaces)
^5(\d{4})$
4. In the Translation pattern regular expression field, type
+1425555$1 and then click OK.
h. Back on the Add Location Profile page, click Add to add a second
normalization rule.

i. In the Add Phone Number Normalization Rule dialog box, perform the
following steps:
1. In the Name field, type Main Office Local Calls
2. In the Description field, type Normalizes local calls (7 digits)
from Main Office to 425 area code
3. In the Phone pattern regular expression field, type (no spaces)
^(\d{7})$
4. In the Translation pattern regular expression field, type +1425$1
and then click OK.
j. Back on the Add Location Profile page, click Add to add a third
normalization rule.
k. In the Add Phone Number Normalization Rule dialog box, perform the
following steps:
1. In the Name field, type Main Office National Calls
2. In the Description field, type Normalizes Main Office national
calls to 1 + 10 digits
3. In the Phone pattern regular expression field, type (no spaces)
^(\d{10})$
4. In the Translation pattern regular expression field, type +1$1 and
then click OK.
l. Back on the Add Location Profile page, click Add to add a fourth
normalization rule.
m. In the Add Phone Number Normalization Rule dialog box, perform the
following steps:
1. In the Name field, type Main Office International Calls
2. In the Description field, type Normalizes Main Office
international calls
3. In the Phone pattern regular expression field, type (no spaces)
^011(\d*)$
4. In the Translation pattern regular expression field, type +$1 and
then click OK three times.
Leave the Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Administration Snap-in
running.
11. On OCS-SE, use OCSUMUTIL to configure Office Communications Server
2007 R2.

a. On OCS-SE, click Start and then click Command Prompt.
b. At the command prompt, type cd “c:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2\ Support” and
then press Enter.
c. Type ocsumutil.exe and then press Enter.
Wait for the tool to load.
d. On the Exchange UM Integration Utility, click Load Data.
e. Under SIP Dial Plans, click the dial plan listed.
Notice there is an error stating there isn’t a contact object in OCS.
f. Close the Exchange UM Integration Utility.
g. At the command prompt, type ocsumutil /domain:nwtraders.com and
then press Enter.
Wait for the tool to finish. You can safely ignore any warnings.
h. Type ocsumutil.exe and then press Enter.
Wait for the tool to load.
i. On the Exchange UM Integration Utility, click Load Data.
j. Under SIP Dial Plans, click the dial plan listed.
Notice now that the error is gone and a contact object exists.
k. Close the Exchange UM Integration Utility.
l. Close the command prompt
12. Configure the location profile on the Mediation Server.
a. On OCS-MED, switch to the Office Communications Server 2007 R2,
Administration Snap-in.
b. Expand Forest – nwtraders.com, expand Mediation Servers, and then
click ocs-med.nwtraders.com.
c. Right-click ocs-med.nwtraders.com and then click Properties.
d. On the ocs-med.nwtraders.com Properties page, on the General tab, in the
Default location profile drop-down list, select the location profile that you
just created and then click OK.
e. Click OK to the A/V Edge Server warning prompt.
f. Click OK to the Active Directory replication warning prompt.
g. Right-click ocs-med.nwtraders.com and then click Start.

h. Leave the Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Administration Snap-in
running.
13. Restart the Unified Messaging service on EX2010
a. On EX2010, click Start, click Administrative Tools and then click Services.
b. In the Services console, right-click Microsoft Exchange Unified
Messaging and then click Restart.
This will force Unified Messaging to read the new configuration to Office
Communications Server.
c. Close Services.
14. Restart the Office Communications Server Front-end service on OCS-SE.
a. On OCS-SE, click Start, click Administrative Tools and then click
Services.
b. In the Services console, right-click Office Communications Server Front-
End and then click Restart.
This will force Office Communications Server to read the new configuration
to Unified Messaging.
c. Close Services.

Exercise 2: Using Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and
Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) Unified Messaging
In this exercise, you will experience the integration of Office Communications Server 2007
R2 and Exchange Server 2010 (Beta) Unified Messaging. You will first enable users for
Enterprise Voice and Unified Messaging and also one user for just Enterprise Voice. You will
then view the features available to each user.
With these enabled users, you will see what is available for each type of user: Unified
Messaging enabled, Enterprise Voice enabled, and Unified Messaging and Enterprise Voice
enabled.

Tasks
1. Configure users for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Enterprise Voice.
a. On OCS-SE, switch to the Office Communications Server 2007 R2,
Administration Snap-in.
b. Expand Forest-nwtraders.com, expand Standard Edition Server, expand
ocs-se, and then click Users.
c. In the Users container, right-click Peter Houston and then click
Properties.
d. On the User Peter Houston Properties page, next to Telephony settings,
click Configure.
e. On the Telephony Options page, select Enable Enterprise Voice.
f. In the Line URI field, type tel:+14255550569
g. In the Location profile drop-down list, select the redmond. location
profile and then click OK twice.
h. In the Users container, right-click John Woods and then click Properties.
i. On the User John Woods Properties page, next to Telephony settings click
Configure.
j. On the Telephony Options page, select Enable Enterprise Voice.
k. In the Line URI field, type tel:+14255551450
l. In the Location profile drop-down list, select the redmond. location
profile and then click OK twice.
m. In the Users container, right-click Mike Ray and then click Properties.

n. On the User Mike Ray Properties page, next to Telephony settings click
Configure.
o. On the Telephony Options page, select Enable Enterprise Voice.
p. In the Line URI field, type tel:+14255551085
q. In the Location profile drop-down list, select the redmond. location
profile and then click OK twice.
2. On EX2010, enable users for Unified Messaging.
a. On Ex2010, in the Exchange Management Console, expand Recipient
Configuration and then click Mailbox.
b. In the Details pane, click Peter Houston and then in the Actions pane, click
Enable Unified Messaging.
c. On the Enable Unified Messaging wizard, on the Introduction page, next to
the Unified Messaging Mailbox Policy, click Browse.
d. On the Select UM Mailbox Policy page, click redmond Default Policy and
then click OK.
e. Under PIN Settings, select Manually specify PIN and then in the field type
425206 and then click Next.
f. On the Extension Configuration page, select Manually entered mailbox
extension and then in the data field verify 50569 is entered and then click
Next.
g. On the Enable Unified Messaging page, click Enable.
h. On the Completion page, click Finish.
i. Repeat steps b through j for John Woods:
1. John Woods
i. Extension: 51450
3. Log into Client01 as Peter Houston.

a. On Client01, click Start, click the shutdown options menu arrow and
then click Log Off.
b. On the host computer, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories
and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
c. On the Remote Desktop Connection page, in the Computer field type
Client01 and then click Connect.

d. At the Windows Security prompt, in the User name field, type nwtraders\
Peter and in the Password field, type pass@word1 and then click OK.
e. Click Start and then click E-mail Microsoft Office Outlook.
f. Verify Office Communicator has automatically started and has logged in.
4. On the host computer, install Office Communicator 207 R2.
a. On the host computer, click Start, click Windows Explorer.
b. In Windows Explorer, navigate to \\ocs-med\c$\ocs2007R2 and double-
click CommunicatorVolume.msi.
c. On the Welcome page, click Next.
d. On the Microsoft Software License Terms page, click I accept the terms
and click Next.
e. ON the Microsoft Update Opt-In page, select I do not want to use
Microsoft Update and click Next.
f. On the Installation page, click Install.
g. On the Completion page click Finish.
5. On the host computer, log into Communicator as John Woods and configure
Voice Mail settings.
a. On the host computer, click Start, click All Programs and then click
Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2.
b. In Communicator, in the Sign-In address field, type [email protected]
c. In the User name field, type [email protected]
d. In the Password field, type pass@word1 and then click Sign In.
e. Close the Internet Explorer window that starts up.

f. In Communicator, click the drop-down menu in the upper-right


corner and then click Change Greetings.
g. Follow the voice prompts to set up John Woods’ mailbox.

h. Click the keypad button in Office Communicator to navigate the


Unified Messaging voice mail system and then hang up.
i. In Communicator, right-click Mike Ray, click Call and then notice the
available call options:
i. Work
ii. New Number

iii. Communicator Call
Note Mike is only enabled for Enterprise Voice.
j. In Communicator, right-click Holly Holt, click Call, and then notice the
options are the same as Mike’s.
Note Holly is only enabled for Unified Messaging.
k. In Communicator, right-click Peter Houston, click Call and then notice the
new option to call Voice Mail.
Note Peter is enabled for Enterprise Voice and Unified Messaging.
l. Click Voice Mail to call Peter’s voice mailbox.
m. Listen to the default greeting, when prompted to leave a voice mail say “Hi
Peter, this is John Woods and I was talking with Mike Ray, We need
you to call 206-555-1234 as soon as you can to help with the project.”
and then hang up.
6. View Peter Houston’s new voice mail.
a. On Client01 RDP session logged in as Peter, switch to Outlook.
b. Click Send/Receive on the upper ribbon and then click Send/Receive All
Folders.
c. Switch to Office Communicator, in the upper-right corner notice the new
Voice Mail icon.
d. Switch back to Outlook and double-click the Voice Mail from John
Woods.
e. In the message body, notice again that Unified Messaging has transcribed
the voice message.
f. Also notice Unified Messaging has recognized the phone number in the
voice message and you can click to call it.
g. In the message body, next to Caller-ID, click [email protected].
h. In the Conversation window, type Hi John, sorry I missed your call. Are
you able to talk now? and then press Enter.
7. Start the conversation and add voice.
a. On the host computer, click the prompt to start the conversation with Peter.
b. In the conversation window, type No problem. Yes I am.
c. In the toolbar of the conversation window, on the toolbar click the drop-
down menu next to the Phone Icon and then click Communicator Call.

d. Notice on Client01 in the conversation window, the prompt to Answer
Incoming call.
Due to virtualization this call cannot be completed.
e. On the host computer, in the conversation window, notice you are sent to
Peter’s voice mail and then disconnect the call.
