Artificial Intelligence (AI) has had a huge impact on education. Here are some
examples from around the world.
A. Educational chatbots
Al chatbots are being used in many schools and universities around the world. They
can help keep students engaged in their learning by providing a more interactive
experience. These virtual tutors can explain concepts clearly, answer specific
questions, and give feedback on homework. Students can seek support from Al
chatbots during and after classes so that they can understand the lessons better. They
can also create groups on chatbots to share ideas about projects and activities.
Engaging with each other using conversational Al can help students create a better
and friendlier learning environment.
B. Virtual reality
Schools in Hong Kong are bringing fascinating learning to the classroom through the
power of virtual reality (VR). This new way of teaching helps students learn valuable
skills, provides "hands-on" experiences when studying history or geography, and
limits potential dangers of chemistry or physics experiments. Guided virtual tours
transport students back in time to study the history of Hong Kong or take them to
tropical forests to explore endangered species.
C. Personalised learning
Experts in Israel have created a technology platform to support personalised
learning. It collects data from students about what they know and do not know,
analyses performances using Al, then offers them suitable assignments. This app has
served as the main distance-learning platform for many Israeli secondary school
students who are preparing for advanced examinations in physics. There are also
thousands of chemistry and biology students who benefit from this software.

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D to indicate the correct
answer to each of the Questions from 34 to 40.
An engine is a machine that creates mechanical motion from energy. In order to do this,
an engine frequently requires some type of fuel to burn. Nowadays, many engines are used
to power cars and other forms of transportation. These vehicles most commonly have an
internal combustion engine and rely upon gasoline for power. However, there are several
types of engines that can use alternative energy sources. Many people are trying to switch to
them because gasoline, which is a fossil fuel, creates pollution and is also a non-renewable
resource Alternative energy sources, meanwhile, create less pollution and are often
renewable sources of energy.
These days, engines that are able to burn biofuels are somewhat common. Biofuels are
fuels that are made from biological material, such as corn, soybeans, and sugarcane. These
biofuels burn cleanly, so they produce much less pollution than fossil fuels. In some
countries, such as Brazil, cars with biofuel engines are standard. In fact, most of the cars in
Brazil have engines that can operate on either gasoline or biofuel.
A second type of alternative engine is the electric engine. Cars with electric engines have
been common for decades. Most are being used in hybrid cars at the moment. These are
vehicles that have both a gasoline-powered engine and an electric one. In many cases, the
gasoline-powered engine is used to operate the car at high speeds on expressways. The
electric engine is utilised for city driving. One benefit of hybrid cars is that as the gasoline-
powered engine runs, it simultaneously recharges the electric engine.
A third type of alternative engine is the hydrogen engine. It utilises hydrogen fuel cells,
which convert hydrogen into electricity that can power the car These days, there are many
cars and buses that rely upon hydrogen engines. However, there are some problems
associated with this type of engine. The hydrogen used in the engine must be processed from
other materials, and it is also difficult to store. As a result, vehicles that run on hydrogen are
expensive.
Question 34. What would be the best title for the passage?
A. Biofuels: Can They Really Run Car Engines?
B. Cars to Use Internal Combustion Engines
C. New Types of Alternative Energy Engines
D. What Is the Best Type of Vehicle Engine?
Question 35. According to paragraph 1, what is probably true about alternative energy
sources?
A. They have only been discovered recently.
B. They are less common than fossil fuels.
C. They cost a great deal to produce.
D. They are rejected by the majority of people.

FIGHTING BACK AGAINST BULLYING
It is often said that childhood is the most joyful period in a person’s life. This is supposed to
be a time when children can focus on their studies and enjoy their free time with friends.
However, these days more and more children are experiencing a stressful and miserable
adolescence due to bullying.
Bullying occurs when one student, or a group of students, uses aggression to harm another
child and try to make them feel bad. This abuse can either be physical, such as pushing or
beating another student, or it could take the form of mental abuse, such as taunting and
teasing the student.
Although it may seem harmless to some, studies show that bullying can greatly impact a
child’s life and have long-lasting negative effects. People who have been bullied may
experience self-esteem issues and start to lack confidence in almost everything they do.
These traits can make it difficult to manage relationships and even cause them to have
trouble holding down a steady job.
One of the most harmful types of bullying that is on the rise is cyberbullying. The bullied
student is targeted in cruel or threatening e-mails, instant messages, or hateful public posts
about them. In many cases, bullies will post embarrassing pictures of the victim or spread
nasty rumours about them through social media. In some tragic cases, children have even
turned to suicide, feeling that they can’t deal with the humiliation.
If you are being bullied by another student, you don't have to accept it or suffer. There are
some steps you can take to deal with the problem. At first, you may try to ignore the bully, as
they will often lose interest in bothering you if you don't react. If the bullying persists,
however, you should tell a trusted adult as soon as possible. This could be a parent, a family
friend, a teacher, a school guidance counselor, or even the school principal. Until recently,
many teachers and school officials turned a blind eye to bullying, believing that the students
would eventually sort it out by themselves. But this mindset has changed in recent years in
light of some of the tragedies that have occurred. If for any reason you feel that your
complaints are not being taken seriously, there are other groups available online who will
help you deal with bullying. By dealing with bullying at an early stage, you can stop it before
it gets much worse.
