HM: Welcome to Truthseekers, where we discuss obscure, bizarre but ultimately true stories.

Tales tell of a time when the earth was plagued with undead.

NQ: That’s right. Today we’ll talk about the events of the Wintertime Calamity, a tale of an
experiment gone wrong conducted by a loving but mourning father who dwelled on the past too
much.

HM: I’m Hai Minh

NQ: And I’m Nhat Quang, let’s get right into it.

HM: It all started on a snowy day, where a scientist driven mad by the loss of his son attempted
to resurrect him.

NQ: Do you know what makes him crazy? He built his lab under a godforsaken mall!

HM: Pretty smart when you think about it, he could just steal supplies for his experiment and
scurry out afterwards. No one would know where he went.

NQ: Yes, but let’s talk about how he managed to go unnoti-

HM: [interrupting] We’re getting ahead of ourselves, back to the main point.

NQ: Right, sorry.

HM: It all started on a snowy day, where a scientist driven mad by the loss of his son attempted
to resurrect him.

NQ: But the resurrection went wrong. His son became an undead. The scientist - named Simo -
was killed by his creation shortly after.

HM: The mall was then later overrun by zombies.

NQ: And now, our guest. A zombie that seems quite laid-back after being a zombie because he
doesn’t have to stress out about taxes and deadlines anymore.

[Chiming transition SFX]

KN (Zombie): Gr… Hr… Argh…

HM: Nevermind, he can’t speak.

KN (Zombie): Gr… Arr… Blergh…

NQ: Um, enter our second guest, please. A veteran who was one of the first to be deployed; a
rapid response unit.

[chiming transition SFX]

HM: Thank you for joining us today, veteran. First, I would like to thank you for your serv-

NA (Soldier): A ZOMBIE! [Gunshot SFX]

KN: Bleh…

HM: Ok, uh, please sit down on that seat next to the undead that’s dead.

NA: Ok, ok. Sorry, that was instinct.

NQ: Right. So, how does the story go?

NA: Well, before my squad entered combat, I saw a kid bravely holding off against multiple of
them before he went down. He managed to hold out long enough for more men to come.

HM: This kid, do you know who he is?

NA: When we were briefed on our way there, we were told that it was someone named “Wick”.
Wick was the brother of the lead zombie, called Paul. We were told that Simo sent a distress
signal to Wick to help him, or at least hold the disaster at bay for as long as possible.

NQ: What happened after?

NA: The military’s research department was pushed to the max to research a cure. The zombies
could rise from the dead for some reason, but we discovered that blowing their heads up
worked like a charm.

HM: And, from looking at the state of the world today, I’m guessing the research departments
and combatants succeeded?

NA: Yep, not before finding out that a massive kraken lived in the nearby lake. And that
necromancy is possible apparently.

NQ: Wait, what?

NA: That’s a story for another time.

HM: No, tell us more.

NA: No. Goodbye

[Footsteps SFX for NA walking out]

NQ: Welp, I guess that’s it, guys.

HM: Tune in next time to hear about the krakens and how necromancy is possible from a
firsthand witness.

NQ: I think I’m traumatised from just hosting this podcast. Ahem, if you enjoyed this podcast,
remember to follow us to be notified when we host another episode.

HM: I’m Hai Minh

NQ: And I’m Nhat Quang. See you next time.
