1. Calculate the area of the shaded region, if the diameter of the semi-circle is equal
to 14 cm. (Take π = 22/7).

2. A solid sphere of radius 15 cm is melted and recast into solid right circular cones
of radius 2.5 cm and height 8 cm. Calculate the number of cones recast.
3. A hollow sphere of internal and external radii 6 cm and 8 cm respectively is
melted and recast into small cones of base radius 2 cm and height 8 cm. Find
the number of cones.
4. The circumference of the base of a 10 m high conical tent is 44 metres. Calculate
the length of canvas used in making the tent if the width of the canvas is 2m.
(Take π = 22/7)
5. In the equilateral Δ ABC of side 14 cm, side BC is the diameter of a semicircle as
shown in the figure below. Find the area of the shaded region. (Take π = 22/7
and √3 = 1.732)

6. The boundary of the shaded region in the given diagram consists of three
semicircular areas, the smaller ones being equal and it’s diameter 5 cm, if the
diameter of the larger one is 10 cm,
calculate:
(i) The length of the boundary,

7. In the given figure, AB is the diameter of a circle with center O and OA = 7 cm.
Find the area of the shaded region.

8. In the given figure, find the area of the unshaded portion within the rectangle.

9. A doorway is decorated as shown in the figure. There are four semi-circles. BC,
the diameter of the larger semi-circle is of length 84 cm. Centres of the three
equal semicircles lie on BC. ABC is an isosceles triangle with AB = AC. If BO = OC,

10. A metal container in the form of a cylinder is surmounted by a hemisphere of


the same radius. The internal height of the cylinder is 7 m and the internal
radius is 3.5 m. Calculate: the total area of the internal surface, excluding the

11. A bucket is raised from a well by means of a rope which is wound round a
wheel of diameter 77 cm. Given that the ascends in 1 minute 28 seconds with a
uniform speed of 1.1 m/sec, calculate the number of complete revolutions the
wheel makes in raising the bucket. (Take π =22/7)
12. A vessel in the form of an inverted cone is filled with water to the brim: Its
height is 20 cm and the diameter is 16.8 cm. Two equal solid cones are dropped
in it so that they are fully submerged. As a result, one-third of the water in the
original cone overflows. What is the volume of each of the solid cones
submerged?
13. A conical tent is accommodate to 11 persons each person must have 4 sq.
metre of the space on the ground and 20 cubic metre of air to breath. Find the
height of the cone.
14. A circus tent is cylindrical to a height of 3 meters and conical above it. If its
diameter is 105 m and the slant height of the conical portion is 53 m calculate
the length of the canvas which is 5m wide to make the required tent.
15. The radius of the internal and external surfaces of a hollow spherical shell are 3
cm and 5 cm respectively! If it is melted and recast into a solid cylinder of height
cm, find the diameter of the cylinder.

10. A vessel is in he form of an inverted cone. Its height is 11 cm., and the radius of

to raise the water level by 5.6 cm
40. A conical tent with a capacity of 600 m3 stands on a circular base of area 160 m2
