Teaching Dates Monday-Friday Learning Area SCIENCE

Time 8:30- 9:30/ 1:00- 2:00 3

Quarter
I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards
The learners demonstrate an understanding of: the information stored in DNA as being used to make proteins

B. Performance Standards NONE

C. Most Essential Learning Explain how protein is made using information from DNA. S10LTIIId-37
Competency
 At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 Describe DNA replication.
D. Objectives  Identify the complimentary base pairings in DNA.

II. CONTENT HEREDITY: INHERITANCE AND VARIATION

A. Topic
 A DNA is a double helix molecule composed of complementary strands of deoxyribonucleic units. The
complementary base pairs of the DNA are held by hydrogen bonds.
B. Key Concepts
 RNA is single strand.
 Examples of RNA include mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA.
 In DNA, adenine always bonds with thymine, and cytosine bonds with guanine. In RNA, adenine bonds with
uracil, and cytosine bonds with guanine.

C. Pre-requisite Skills
Stating, identifying, evaluating, comparing

presenting the new lesson  Checking of attendance
 Classroom rules

ELICIT  Review the menstrual cycle.

 Present pictures to the class. Let the students guess what the pictures are.
Question/s: What do you think is the picture/s all about?
What do you think will be our lesson for today?

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson  The teacher will emphasize that the focus of the discussion will be on DNA and RNA structures and its base-pairs.
(presentation of the objectives)  Begin the lesson by presenting images to the class.
ENGAGE  Activity 1. Identify me.

 Question/s:
 When can you identify that it is a DNA structure? An RNA structures?
 What do you think will be or topic for today?

The teacher will present video to the class discussing about DNA complimentary bases and its sequencing, after watching the video,
the students now have prior knowledge about the lesson.
