Chapter 3 _ Starting system

The document discusses the starting system of an engine, detailing its mechanical and electrical components that convert electrical energy from the battery into mechanical energy using a starter motor. It covers principles of direct-current motors, characteristics of starter motors, and includes formulas related to speed, moment, and power characteristics. Additionally, it provides references for further reading on automotive electricity and electronics.

STARTING SYSTEM

Le Thanh Phuc, Nguyen Thanh Tuyen

1
Introduction
➢The starting system is a combination of
mechanical and electrical parts that work
together to start the engine.
➢The starting system is designed to change
the electrical energy, which is being stored in
the battery, into mechanical energy.
➢To accomplish this conversion, a starter or
cranking motor is used.
