SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:
a. quote 1 John 4:7-8
b. define love; define unselfishness.
c. mention any four (4) moral responsibility of showing love to others.
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES: “Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God and anyone
who loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is
love.” 1 John 4:7-8

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The pupils have been told bible stories about love, such as, the
death and resurrection of Jesus.

SHOWING LOVE AND UNSELFISHNESS (1 JOHN 4:7-12)
“Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God and anyone who loveth is born of God
and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8

CHARACTERISTICS OF LOVE (What is love all about?) (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)


1. Love is caring and kind.
2. Love is patient.
3. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.
4. Love does not demand its own way.
5. Love does not rejoice over injustice but rejoices over the truth.

UNSELFISHNESS: It is an abstract noun. It is the act of giving more time and importance to
people’s needs, wishes etc than your own. You show care to other people sometimes even
more than yourself.

MORAL RESPONSIBILITY OF SHOWING UNSELFISH LOVE TO OTHERS


As children of God, it is our duty to show love and unselfish attitude to others. We can show
this love by:
a. Telling the truth always.
b. Being always loyal (help those in need).
c. Being dependable on each other.
d. Being committed to one another.
e. Being devoted to each other.
f. Sharing without asking for anything back.

HOME FUN:
Narrate a story about how you have shown love to people around you.
