Percy Jackson
Percy Jackson is a fantasy novel written by Rick Riordan in 2005. It’s
set in a XXI century world where (almost) all the ancient mythologies exist. The most important is Greek mythology and the main character is named Percy Jackson, who is the son of the god of the sea, Poseidon. During the books he will go on a lot of adventures with his friends at Camp Half-Blood (a camp for all the sons and daughters of all the Greek gods). Other important characters in the story are Annabeth Chase (daughter of the goddess Athena), Grover Underwood (satyr), Thalia Grace (daughter of the god Zeus), and Luke Castellan (almost the bad guy, son of Hermes). Actually, there are a lot of books that happen in the fantasy world, but in our opinion, the best series are Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus.
These books are included in the seven major arts as part of
literature. Entering inside the literary genres, it belongs to the narrative genre, being a fantasy novel. It has a lot of Greek culture and history, along with some traditions and plenty of myths and legends. Also it has a lot of occidental culture, specially from the United States of America, because the story develops in New York. It also has a little of the lyric genre, having some prophecies written as poetry.
Example:
“Seven heroes shall answer the call,
To storm or fire, the world must fall. An oath to keep with the final breath, As foes bear arms to the Doors of death.” Our opinion:
We consider Percy Jackson to be a great book, with a lot of really
interesting features, story and characters. Personally, it is one of our favourite books, it’s really funny and the story is well developed with a lot of action, plot-twists, and adventures.
