MULTIDISCIPLINARY PROJECT 2023-24

Dear Parents,
The theme for the multidisciplinary project is "Flavors of Yore". In a world dominated by fusion and
modern gastronomy, it’s time to take a step back and rediscover the Indian dishes of the past. In addition
to conceptual learning, this integrated project will cover a range of subjects and assist the students in
building social skills, critical thinking, time-management, and leadership abilities. They will be able to
collaborate with the members of their group.
OBJECTIVE: Through this project student will be able to:
discover the culinary journey through the ages.
delve into the depths of history of ancient flavours that have stood the test of time, waiting to be
savoured once again.
learn to integrate all subjects with art.
reviving Grandma’s recipes and unearthing long-lost family heirlooms.
GUIDELINES FOR THE INTEGRATED PROJECT:
1. It is a group activity, and each group will have 6-7 students.
2. The activity for each subject is mentioned in the table given below and it will be further explained
by the respective subject teachers.
3. Each subject must have 3-4 pages (written work with relevant pictures) and the pages should be
coloured A4 size cartridge sheets only. The colour of the paper to be used for each subject is also
given in the table.
4. After the completion of all the activities, it should be compiled in a file. Arrange the matter
regarding various subjects in the same sequence as mentioned in the table given below.
5. The file must have a cover page. The title of the project should be on the file cover. Students can
use sketches, photographs, cartoons etc to make the cover page attractive.
6. Use colours, pictures, illustrations wherever required. Please note that only handwritten work is
allowed. Name, class, section, and roll number must be mentioned on the last page.
7. The project work must be done either in school during the time allotted or at home at individual
level. No student shall visit the house of any member of the group for this purpose.
8. Students will be evaluated on a scale of 10. There will be a project presentation which will be
evaluated by a panel of teachers.

9. Last date of submission is 25th January 2024. It must be submitted to the class teacher. Timely
submission will be appreciated. Late submission will lead to the deduction of one mark per day.

Activity Classroom Activity: Each group will prepare a jingle presentation in English to
promote Millets.
Written Activity: Students will create:
1. A brochure advertisement for any three dishes on an A3-size chart paper,
showcasing or promoting the cuisines in a particular region or state that is
assigned to students of a group. One of the dishes must have millet as its main
ingredient.
2. A food dictionary /glossary of the ingredients used in the above-mentioned
dishes.

Subject Mathematics
Topic: Comparing Quantities
Activity Students will design their own restaurant (name it) which exclusively serves
authentic recipes of the region allotted to them. The layout /interior /logo/board etc is
to be designed using Tinker Cad /MS tools.
Students are expected to
1. Decide the size of the restaurant and the location of the restaurant in Baroda.
As per the location they need to find the cost per square feet / meter square
and thereafter calculate the total cost of setting up their restaurant. (either
building it or buying the space or taking on lease or rent)
2. They need to create a recipe booklet featuring the name of the recipe, cost and
a brief description of the recipes they serve.
3. They need to make a detailed report of how the restaurant is going to function
(can be a PPT presentation). The report should be inclusive of timings, staff,
daily expenses, maintenance etc. They can create an excel sheet for the records.
4. They also need to plan out their marketing strategies and the money that is
going to be spent on it with the proper breakup. (marketing can be
through social media, print media, word of mouth or all of these
and offers and discounts can also be a part of it)
5. Lastly in an excel sheet they need to make a balance sheet that provides the
detailing of the balance of income and expenditure over a period of time
(roughly a year).

Activity 1. To commemorate the International Year of Millet -2023, students will prepare
and present any one staple dish by using millets from different zones.
2. They will also do a comparative study between usage of millets and other
grains.

Activity Lost recipes
Write a traditional recipe and its ingredients in French on an A3 size paper.
Subject Gujarati
Activity Lost recipes
Write about a traditional recipe, its ingredients and health benefits in Gujarati on an
A3 size chart paper.
Subject Sanskrit
Students will draw the picture of a traditional food item and describe it in 8 - 10
Activity lines in Sanskrit.
Subject Social Science
Activity "The Flavors of Yore: Traditional Indian Recipes with a Historical Twist"
The students will be given one zone/region to research.
Group1: The students will create a ‘Calendar’ based on their own region creatively.
Group 2: The students will research on their respective zones:
a) Climate b) Soil c) Cropping seasons d) Major crops e) Staple food f) Government
policies for the growth of agriculture.
Group 3: The students will research on the various spices used in their respective zones
and create a‘Spice Journal’.
Group 4: The students will create a scrapbook whereby they will draw comparison
between the food habits of yesteryears and today.
Group 5: The students will make a presentation based on the festivals celebrated in
their region and correlate the significance of specific food.
Subject Computer Science
Activity Each group will create a short video (film) based on the work done by their team
members.
