Go through the different stages of a restaurant meal and check understanding. Play the audio file or scan the

dialogue once or twice.

Students try to find the phrases in the dialogue and put them into the correct category. Students can work
individually and check in pairs.

Students take turns to be waiters and customers. Make sure they role-play the full dialogue. If students decide to
order a dessert, they should then ask for the bill, or alternatively, the waiter can offer a coffee. Elicit the expressions
‘Can I have the bill, please?’ and ‘Would you like a coffee?’
