LL.M. I Internal examination policy measures for 2024-25

General Guidelines and instructions for Internal Term Work

As per the syllabus framed by Shivaji University for LL.M., 80 marks will be for the theory paper and 20 marks
for internal assessment. Students have to secure a minimum of 40 marks to pass the theory paper and 10
marks in internal term work.
20 marks are divided per subject in each semester -
I. 10 marks – (5 marks for submission in PRINTED FORMAT and 5 marks for presentation)
 Long Term Paper (LTP) for two subjects of each semester.
 Critical Legal Essay for two subjects of each semester.
 Topics and submission schedule will be circulated through respective subjects’ teachers.

II. 5 Marks – 2 Lectures per subject


III. 5 marks - Home Assignments in WRITTEN FORMAT
- 5 Broad Questions
- 5 Short Notes

ASSIGNMENT - INTERNAL TERM WORK – GUIDELINES


1. Student has to write Assignment on ANY Five Broad Questions and Five Short Notes.
2. Assignment shall be in Question-and-Answer form.
3. It shall be handwritten only.
4. It will be better to check assignment periodically from the concerned subject teacher, so as corrections /
improvements can be made for better output.
5. Object of Assignment is to make student to understand the question while writing the answer.
6. Collect Several assignments of several students will help to compile comprehensive notes of the
concerned subject.
7. Write Assignment on A4 size blank xerox paper, on one side only.
8. Write each question on separate page.
9. Give Index at first page mentioning Question and Page numbers.
10. Give page number at middle bottom of each page.

Note- Specimen is provided herewith for your perusal. (use COVER PAGE given herewith)
Rules regarding Internal Assessment-
 Home Assignment shall be in handwriting.
 It is compulsory to submit your assignments for each subject, failing which the student will not be
assessed for internal evaluation and the student may lose internal marks.
 The internal marks are to be recorded by lecturers of the respective subjects to evaluate the students.
The marks allotted by the same will be full and final.
 Do not just reproduce answers from the book reading material.
 Do not copy answer sheet of other students…. if noticed, the assignment of such students will be
rejected.
 Student should submit the assignments in person.

Guidelines regarding (LTP Long Term paper) and Critical Legal Essay-
LTP Long Term paper

 LTP and Essay shall be in typed format.


 Use 12 pt Times New Roman with justified alignment.
 Set 1 inch page margins.
 Apply 1.5 line spacing.
 Use title case capitalization for headings with font size 14.
 Place page numbers in the bottom center.
 Copy paste material is strictly prohibited.
 First page shall contain...
 1.Name of the college
 2. Title of LTP
 3. Submitted by... Your full name with your class and roll no.
 4. Submitted to...
 Concerned subject teacher name
 Use Table of contents on second page (not applicable for essay)

LTP shall be divided into chapter’s

Chapter I- Introduction
 Chapter II- Historical background or Concept
 Chapter III-Kinds of IPR
 Chapter IV-Legal framework at Global and National level with renowned cases
 Chapter V-Conclusion and suggestions
 References
 Bibliography
 Webliography

Critical Legal Essay Format and Structure


1. Introduction
 The introduction should introduce the main arguments of the essay.
 The first sentence should be attention-grabbing.
 The introduction should provide concise information about the broader significance of the topic.
 It should lead into the body of the essay.
2. Body:
 Each paragraph should have a clear topic sentence.
 The paragraph should include supporting evidence and analysis.
 The paragraphs should be logically connected.
 Recent judicial pronouncements shall be added.
3. Conclusion:
 The conclusion should summarize the main arguments of the essay.
 It should not introduce new information.
 The critical evaluation of the topic.
 It should demonstrate the significance of the arguments.

Special Note-
1. There are four subjects for Term -I.
2. There will be LONG TERM PAPER for TWO subjects and LEGAL ESSAY for remaining TWO subjects.
3. Every Student has to select one topic of Any Two subjects for Long Term Paper.
4. Every Student has to select one topic of Any Two Remaining subjects for Legal Essay.

Illustration- If student has selected LTP on subjects 1. Law and Social Transformation and 2. Constitutional
Law then for remaining two subjects i.e. for 3. Legal Theory and 4. IPR Law he has to select topic for Legal
Essay.
