INTERNET
- is global system of interconnected computer networks that use the Internet Protocol Suite,
Transmission control protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide.

- massive network of networks.
IP ADDRESS - unique strand of numbers separated by full stops or decimals that defines each
computer using the internet protocol.

Origin of Internet
- Lonard Kleinrock published his article in 31-May- 1961 (information flow in large communication nets)

Packet Switching Theory

- Internet born in 1969 - called advanced research projects agency network (ARPANET)

DIFFERENCE B/W INTERNET & WEB

WEB is a Software part that is collection of Websites which are accessed through address called
Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

1. Surface Web - portion of web which can be accessed through search engines web
(Google.com, Yahoo.com, Bing.com) (.Com, .Edu, .Org, .Pk)
- also known as visible part of the World wide web (only 4-5% of whole web.)
- contains 19 Terabytes of total World wide web

2. Deep Web - hidden from search engine


- 400 to 500 times more public information than Surface Web.
- 7500 terabytes of information
- can only be accessed if you have exact URL (Username and Passwords.)

3. Dark Web - deeper part of deep web


- illegal and menacing activities can be found

 Gambling
 Weapons
 Cannibal
 Drugs
- can't be accessed by your normal browsers
- A Different browser is needed such as TOR (The Onion Router).
- TOR hides a person identification and makes him anonymous through hiding his actual IP
address
