Character Sketch

Objective:

Students will create detailed character sketches of key gures in To Kill a Mockingbird,
demonstrating their understanding of the characters' personalities, motivations, and
development.

Instructions:

1. Choose One Character:


Select one of the following characters to analyze:

◦ Atticus Finch
◦ Scout Finch
◦ Jem Finch
◦ Boo Radley
◦ Tom Robinson
◦ Calpurnia

2. Character Description (5-7 Sentences):

◦ Provide physical traits, if mentioned.


◦ Describe their personality.
◦ Explain their role in the story.

3. Key Actions & Development (5-7 Sentences):

◦ Describe an important moment involving the character.


◦ Explain how the character changes (if applicable).

4. Character’s Impact (5-7 Sentences):

◦ How does this character in uence the themes of the novel?


◦ What do they teach us about morality, justice, or society?

5. Creative Element:

◦ Draw a portrait or create a visual representation of your chosen character


OR
◦ Write a short journal entry from the character’s perspective.

Grading Criteria (20 Points Total):

• Content & Accuracy (10 points) – Clear and well-supported analysis.


• Creativity & Depth (5 points) – Engaging and insightful details.
• Grammar & Clarity (5 points) – Well-written with minimal errors.
