Overview
What’s New
In DeltaV version 5.1, there are a number of changes to simplify license selection and implementation:

• Reduced number of batch workstation licenses on a typical system by creation of the Batch Bundles.
You now purchase Basic, Advanced or Professional Batch; one license manages everything you need
(except the Batch Operator Interface).

• Reduced number of controller licenses in a typical system. In the past you had four types of controller
licenses (Data Acquisition, Sequence, Regulatory, Batch), with one assigned to each controller.
Controller licensing is now managed system wide; each license identifies the type of functionality and
number of DSTs licensed to the system. The types of controller licenses have been reduced to two as
follows:
− Monitoring is now a base functionality delivered in the ProfessionalPLUS Station license and
includes viewing, scaling, alarming and historizing any DST in the system.
− A control license upgrades the specified number of DSTs from monitor functionality to include all
types of control except batch (e.g. sequencing, function blocks, structured text)
− An Advanced Unit Management license replaces all Batch Controller licenses, allowing execution
of controller-based phase logic on the licensed number of DSTs, and providing an embedded
interface to the recipe execution engine.

Selection of your controller licenses is now a simple three-step process:

1. What is the total DST size of your system?

The answer determines the size of the ProfessionalPLUS license to buy.

2. Of the total DSTs in your system, how many will be used for control?
The answer determines the size of the system-wide Control license to buy.

3. Select controller redundancy and serial I/O port licenses on a per-controller basis as you have in the
past.
For Batch systems, you have three additional steps:

4. How many DSTs will be used in Batch?

The answer determines the size of your Advanced Unit Management license.

5. Select the appropriate workstation bundle from the table below:

System-Wide Batch Soft-Phase Campaign

Advanced Batch X X X

Professional Batch X X X X

6. Select the number of Batch Operator Interfaces as you have in the past.
You have now defined all your controller and Batch workstation licenses!

Continuous Control Example

Monitor functionality in version 5 is delivered as part of the ProfessionalPLUS license, and the DST size of monitor
equals the DST size of the ProfessionalPLUS license. The first example in Table 1 shows a 1000-DST system
with 1000 DSTs of monitor. There is no control in this system; i.e., the system will only view, alarm, scale and
historize the 1,000 signals. As you see, the only license you purchase is the ProfessionalPLUS license. It includes
the 1,000-DST system database as it has in the past, but now it also includes 1,000 DSTs of monitor functionality.
No additional licenses are required for controllers if the only functionality is monitor.

The second example in Table 1 shows a 1,000-DST system with 600 of the DSTs used for control. The licenses
you purchase for this example are a 1,000-DST ProfessionalPLUS license and a 600-DST control license. The
ProfessionalPLUS license gives you a 1,000-DST system database, and it gives you 1,000 DSTs of monitor.
Adding the 600-DST control license upgrades 600 of the DSTs from monitor to control. The result is a 1,000-DST
system with 600 DSTs for control and 400 DSTs for monitor. Keep in mind, this is system-wide licensing—which
means the 600 control DSTs and 400 monitor DSTs can be used in any combination in any quantity of controllers.
The only limit you must continue to observe is the 500-DST per controller limit.

Batch Control Example

Let's modify the continuous control example above to require recipe execution, batch based tracking of historical
data, and 3 operator interfaces (i.e. it’s a batch job). To accomplish this, we’ll need to use controller-based phase
logic to coordinate the execution of the control and monitor applications we created, and tie them to our recipe
execution engine (batch executive). In total, 900 of the 1,000 DSTs will be involved in recipe execution.

Controllers
As in our previous example, we start by purchasing a 1000-DST ProfessionalPLUS license and a 600-DST control
license. We want to allow up to 900 of these DSTs to be used in controller-based phase logic and then tied to our
recipe execution engine (i.e. they are batch). To do this, we add a system-wide, 900-DST Advanced Unit
Management license (ref: Table 2).

Workstations
Advanced Unit Management provides an embedded interface to our recipe execution engine, the Batch Executive
application, which runs in a PC workstation. The Batch Executive is bundled together with combinations of the
Batch Historian, Soft-Phase Server and Campaign Manager as shown in Table 3. Each of the system-wide batch
licenses is available in several DST sizes. Simply pick the size that equals the size of your Advanced Unit
Management license.
Table 3. System-wide batch workstation licenses

Advanced Batch X X X

Professional Batch X X X X

Based on our Application, we’ll require a 900-DST Advanced Batch license to provide the recipe management and
batch history tracking.
Now add 3 Batch Operator Interface licenses to our PC workstations used for operator interface, and you have just
selected all the controller and workstation licenses for batch. It really is that easy!

Migrating from DeltaV Version 4.2 to 5.1

When migrating a system from version 4.2 to 5.1, the licenses convert as follows:

Version 4.2 System Conversion Logic Resulting Version 5 Licenses

Licenses
Data Acquisition Controller The ProfessionalPLUS license None
automatically enables monitor (included in ProfessionalPLUS)
functionality on the full system
Calculation, Sequence, Create Version 5 Control Control License
Regulatory, Batch License = Sum DST’s of all

For example, assume the following scenario:

Twister System License Conversion Logic Resulting Version 5 System-Wide

License

800-DST Pro+ The ProfessionalPLUS license 800-DST Pro+ license

100-DST Data Acquisition automatically enables monitor
functionality on the full system

200-DST Calculation

200-DST Batch Executive Create Version 5 Advanced Batch 300-DST Advanced Batch
License with DST size = greater of license
300-DST Batch Historian Batch Executive or Batch Historian.

There are a couple of interesting items to note in the above scenario:

1. The DST size difference between the ProfessionalPLUS and the version 5 control license is 100 DSTs, which
means there are 100 DSTs available for monitor. This 100 DSTs of monitor equals the size and functionality of
the Data Acquisition that was there before migrating to version 5.

2. The Batch Historian had 300-DSTs licensed, so the Advanced Batch license is upgraded to 300 DSTs even
though the Batch Executive was only 200 DSTs. In other words, you received 100 DSTs of Batch Executive
license at no cost! You also receive the Soft Phase Management software included in the Advanced Batch
license at NO CHARGE!

Other Version 4 License Migration

Licenses for fuzzy logic function blocks in a version 4 system will disappear after migrating to a version 5 system.
Fuzzy logic is a standard feature in version 5 systems, which means they no longer require licenses to use them.
All other version 4 licenses remain the same when the migration to version 5 is complete.
