Title: Urban and Rural Areas Comparison Assessment
Objective: The objective of this assessment is to enable students to understand and
compare the characteristics of urban and rural areas. By creating a visual comparison chart
and providing written explanations, students will demonstrate their comprehension of factors
such as population, advantages and disadvantages, cost of living, crime rate, infrastructure,
job opportunities, transportation, and housing in both urban and rural settings.
Materials Needed:
Blank A3 sheet of paper
Drawing materials (markers, pencil, coloured pencils, ruler, rubber etc.)
Computer with PowerPoint or Word
Instructions:
1. Drawing Task:
Divide an A3 sheet of paper into two sections: one labelled "Urban Area" and
the other labelled "Rural Area."
Use drawing materials to sketch and label visual representations of urban and
rural environments. This could include buildings, houses, roads, farms, etc.
2. Digital Task:
Create a PowerPoint presentation on an “Urban Area” and a “Rural Area” considering the
following factors:
The population living in Urban and Rural Areas.
The advantages and disadvantages of living in an Urban and a Rural Area.
The difference in the cost of living if you reside in an Urban or a Rural Area.
The different Job Opportunities available in Urban and Rural Areas.
