Assessment
 Is defined as an act or process of collecting and interpreting
information about student learning (Gabuyo, 2012).
 The most common form of assessment is giving a test.
 It answers the question, "how foes an individual student
perform?"
 Is the process of gathering evidences of students' performance
over a period of tie to determine learning and mastery of skills
(Navarro).

Measurement
 Is a process of quantifying or assigning number to the
individual's intelligence, personality, attitudes and values, and
achievement of the students (Gabuyo, 2012).
 It expresses the assessment data in terms of numerical values
(Gabuyo, 2012).
 It answers the question, "how much?"
 Is a part of educational evaluation process whereby some tools
or instruments are used to provide a quantitative description of
the progress of students towards desirable educational goals
(Santos De Guzman).
 It may be defined as an instrument or device to measure
individual's achievement, personality, attitudes, intelligence and
among others that can be expressed quantitatively (Calmorin,
2004).
 Is the process of determining or describing the attributes or
characteristics of physical objects generally in terms of quantity
(Navarro, 2012).

Classroom Illustration
 The knowledge of the subject matter is often measured through
standardized test results (Santos De Guzman).
 A group of experts can rate a student's (or a teacher's)
knowledge of the subject matter in a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being
the lowest and 5 the highest (Santos De Guzman)

Evaluation
○ Judging the quality of what' good and what's desirable. It is the
comparison of data to a set of standard or learning criteria for
the purpose of judging the worth or quality (Gabuyo, 2012).
○ Refers to consideration of evidence in the light of value standard
and in terms of the particular situations and the goals which the
group of individuals are striving to attain (Good, 1945) (retrieved
from Calmorin, 2004 nga book).

Classroom Illustration
- Teachers and professors evaluate students' achievements simply
because of their concern whether or not they are able to reach
the purpose or goal of their teaching efforts (Calmorin, 2004).

Test
▪ Is formal and systematic instrument, usually paper and pencil
procedure designed to assess the quality, ability, skill, or
knowledge of the students by giving a set of question in uniform
manner (Gabuyo, 2012).
▪ One of the many types of assessment procedure used to gather
information about the performance of students.

Testing
 Is one of the different methods used to measure the level of
performance or achievement of the learners (Gabuyo, 2012).
 Refers to the administration, scoring, and interpretation of the
procedures designed to get information about the extent of the
performance of the students (Gabuyo, 2012).
 A systematic procedure to determine the presence or absence of
certain characteristics or qualities in a learner.

Non-test (Kubiszyn)
○ Refers to assessments or evaluations that do not involve testing
methods.
○ These assessments focus on alternative ways of gauging skills,
knowledge or abilities.

Uses of Tests to Stakeholders (Mcmillan, 2019)


1. Students
 Tests can help students identify their strengths and
weaknesses, set goals, and track their progress.
 Test can help students prepare for future exams and college
admissions.
2. Teachers
 Tests can help teachers identify the areas where students
need additional support and adjust their teaching strategies
accordingly.
 Tests can also help teachers evaluate the effectiveness of
their instruction and make improvements.
3. Parents
 Tests can help parents understand their child's academic
progress and identify areas where their child may need
additional support.
 Test can also help parents communicate with teachers and
advocate for their child's education.
4. School's Administrator
 Tests can help schools evaluate the effectiveness of their
curriculum and instructional strategies.
 Tests can also help schools identify areas where additional
resources or support may be needed.
5. Policymakers
 Tests can help policymakers evaluate the effectiveness of
education policies and programs.
 Tests can also help them provide a wealth of data that
policymakers use to make informed decisions and continually
improve the quality and equity of education.
 For instance, if test scores reveal that students in certain
regions are consistently underperforming, it might indicate a
need for additional resources or policy changes in those
areas.

a. Condition Level
 The condition that the learning will be taking place.
b. Criterion Level
 Acceptable level of performance
 Must be of several ways:
