POKHARA UNIVERSIT Y

Level: Bachelor Semester: Spring Year : 2024

Programme: BE Full Marks:100
Course: Network Theory Pass Marks: 45
Time : 3hrs.
Candidates are required to give their answers in their own words as far
as practicable.
The figures in the margin indicate full marks.
Attempt all the questions.
1. a) Find the response of R-L circuit connected to DC voltage source 7
when switch is closed at t=0 and define the time constant for it.
b) For the network shown in figure below, determine the current 8
through 20 ohm resistor when the switch is opened at t = 0. Also find
current after 0.2 sec. Use classical method.

2. a) In the given circuit, the switch K is opened at time t = 0. Find the 7

solution for current i(t) using classical method. At t = 2 seconds, what
is the value of i(t)?

b) Write the advantage of Laplace method over classical approach? An 8

R-L series circuit is connected to an AC voltage
𝑣(𝑡) = 80 cos(400𝑡 + 20) , 𝑅 = 10 Ω& 𝐿 = 0.05𝐻. At t=0, the
switch K is closed. Find the equation for the current using Laplace
method.
