Competitions Rule Book

Introduction:
The International EdTech conference 4.0 is a groundbreaking event of Robotmea Edutech that is
going to be held on June 09, 2023 – June 10, 2023 in Islamabad. The conference aims to promote
education and technology in the country and provide students with the opportunity to showcase
their skills and knowledge in the field of technology innovation to foster entrepreneurship in
Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The symposium will feature a series of EdTech sessions and keynotes that will cover a wide range
of topics pertaining to Role of Technology in Education. The Keynote sessions will be led by
national and International Information, Communication and Edtech experts who will share their
knowledge and experience with attendees.
The biggest attraction of this Edtech summit is the “Pakistan STEAM Championship” an extra-
ordinary opportunity for young lads to showcase their skillset in the emerging fields of technology
using their existing knowledge of science and mathematics. Students will exhibit their state-of-
the-art technology embedded projects well designed on the principles of Scientific Laws and
Mathematical Principles, each one of it will be a unique solution to a problem. STEAM
Championship category will feature a “Theme Solving” competition to assess the problem
solving, critical thinking, collaborative and creative thinking ability of students. Students with
higher order thinking capabilities will be given an opportunity to problem themselves as Young
Scientist of Pakistan!

The EdTech conference 4.0 will also include national level thrilling and exciting Robotics
competitions for students from schools, colleges, and universities. This competition will allow
students to demonstrate their skills in the emerging technologies such as robotics, Internet of
things (IOT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help and transform the nation towards wisdom
driven economies. The winners of each category in any of the module will get a cash prize of
100,000/- (One lac rupees) Pakistani rupees.

The EdTech conference 4.0 is a unique opportunity for students, teachers, school leaders and
industry patrons to learn nextgen educational methods and to gain limitless exposure on latest
technological innovation and inventions.
This extravaganza will provide the access to people, networking platform, full of exposure and
much more to grow personally and professionally.
1- Robotmea STEAM Championship 2023
The STEAM Championship is a competition that promotes science, technology, engineering,
arts, and math (STEAM) education and encourages students to develop their skills and
knowledge in these fields. In this competition, students have the opportunity to develop
important competencies such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and
leadership, which are essential for success in 21st Century learning. We have two streamlines
for this STEAM Championship 2023.

Module 1: Theme Solver Competition (Grades 1 to 5)


Welcome to the Theme Solver Competition! This international Edtech conference
is designed to challenge students to showcase their knowledge and skills in
STEAM concepts. In this competition, teams will be assigned a task to complete
based on a given theme, and their work will be evaluated on Bloom Taxonomy
standards, 4 Metro Cs & on the 21st century learning.
Here are the detailed rules for the competition:
Eligibility: The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in any
Robotmea Partnered school having the Primary Year Program. (Grade 1 - Grade
5). Any student enrolled in theme solving competition cannot compete in any
other competition.
Team Formation: Teams can consist of 3-5 students, and each team must have a
team captain who will be the main point of contact throughout the competition.
Task Assignment: Each team will be assigned a task based on a given theme. The
theme will be announced on May 10th, 2023, and teams will have a specific time
frame on the day of competition to complete their tasks.
Evaluation/Judging: The teams' work will be evaluated by the panel of judges on
benchmarks developed by Robotmea Research and Curriculum wing experts to
assess the students on Cognitive Domain, Psychomotor Domain, and Affective
Domain.
Students will be assessed on the following rubrics:
Reason effectively
Use system thinking
Make judgement and decisions
Solve Problems

Apply Technology effectively

Manage Goal & Time
Be Responsible to Others
Work Creatively with others
Disqualification: Teams that violate any of the competition rules or engage in any
unethical behavior may be disqualified from the competition.
Photography and Videography: Photography and videography may be taken
during the competition and may be used for promotional purposes.
Note: It is important to note that only one teacher is allowed to assist students
during this competition, they are not permitted to physically construct or
assemble any part of the design on behalf of the team. The teacher may offer
guidance and advice to the students, but it is the responsibility of the students to
complete the task assigned to them. Any violation of this rule may result in
disqualification of the team from the competition. This rule is put in place to
ensure that the competition is fair and that all teams are evaluated solely based
on their own work and abilities.

Module 2: Project Exhibition (Grades 6 to 8)


Eligibility: The competition is open to students in (Grade 6-8)
Project Guidelines: Projects should be based on emerging technologies and
should demonstrate the student's understanding of STEAM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) concepts. The projects should be original and not
copied from any other source. The project must be displayed with a poster board
that highlights the key features and design of the project. Robotmea Kits should
be used to assemble the projects. Participants can use other allied tools alongside
kit parts i.e., sensors, controllers, motors, thermopole sheets, or any other tool as
per the requirement.
Presentation Guidelines: Students must prepare a presentation to showcase their
project to the judges. The presentation should be no longer than 3-5 minutes and
should cover the key features of the project, its design, and the student's
understanding of STEAM concepts & extractions ability. The presentation can be
delivered in a bilingual style (Urdu and English).
Judging Criteria: The projects will be evaluated on the basis of their originality,
quality, creativity, and the student's understanding of STEAM concepts. The
judges will be experts in the field of emerging technologies and will evaluate the
projects based on a set of pre-defined criteria as mentioned below:

Criteria 2:
The student’s knowledge will be assessed on the following rubrics and based on
observational methodology and question answering session, judges will place the
students in one of the following positions. Judges have all the rights to add
worksheets in the judging criteria to ensure the quality assessment:

Ethics and Plagiarism: Plagiarism in any form will not be tolerated. Students
found guilty of plagiarism will be disqualified from the competition. All projects
must adhere to ethical standards.
Conduct: Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional
manner throughout the competition. Any disruptive or inappropriate behavior
will result in disqualification.
Disclosure: Participants must disclose any assistance or collaboration received
during the project development.
Photography and Videography: Photography and videography may be taken
during the competition and may be used for promotional purposes.
3-Robotics Competition 2023:
Competition is an exciting event that brings together students and professionals
from different schools, colleges & universities to showcase their skills and
knowledge in the field of robotics. In this robotics competition 2023 we are going
to conduct:

School Category: College & University Category:

• RC Race • Robo Sumo


• Soccer-bot Competition • Line Following Robot
• Line Following Robot

Module 1: RC Race (School Category)


RC (Remote Control) Race is an exciting competition where students from
different schools can compete using remote-controlled cars. Participants need to
design and build their own RC cars, which they will race against each other on a
designated track.
• Each team would be comprised of 3 members.
• The robot must be designed and built by the team.
• The robot must be able to move forward, backward, turn left, and turn
right. The robot should not exceed the size of 30cm x 30cm x 30cm.
• The robot must be powered by batteries and it remains onboard and
cannot be changed during the race.
• The racecourse will consist of a track with obstacles. The track will be
marked with lanes and robot will follow it. The obstacles will be placed
along the track, and the robots will navigate it without knocking them
down.
• The time taken by each robot to complete the race will be recorded. The
robot with the fastest time will be declared as the winner.
• Penalties will be given if a robot knocks down an obstacle or leaves its lane.
The penalties will be added to the robot's time.
• The safety of participants, spectators, and equipment is paramount. The
organizers reserve the right to disqualify any team whose robot poses a
safety risk.
• The participants should behave nicely & and show sportsman spirit during
the competition. Any misconduct in behavior will result in disqualification.
• The judges' decision will be considered as final. Any complaint against the
judge will only be addressed by the chief organizer of the conference.

Module 2: Soccer-bot Competition (School Category)


Soccer-bot competitions are popular events in which single robot compete against
each other in a game of soccer. These competitions are often held at educational
institutions and robotics conferences to promote the study of robotics and artificial
intelligence. If you are planning to participate in a soccer-bot competition, it is
important to familiarize yourself with the rules and guidelines that are typically
followed.
1. Each team is allowed one robot on the field at a time.
2. Robots must be controlled through wireless remote controllers and only one
person can control the robot.
3. Robots must be able to move around the field using wheels or similar means
of propulsion.
4. Robots must be powered by a battery.
5. The field size and layout may vary depending upon the competition, but it is
typically a rectangular shape with goals at each end.
6. The game consists of one round, and the team that scored two goals will be
the winner.
7. Sides will be changed for both teams on scoring the first goal.
Module 3: Line Follower Robot (School Category)
Line follower robots are a popular type of autonomous robot that is designed to
follow a line or path marked on the floor. These robots are often used in edtech
competitions to teach students about robotics and programming. Please note
down the key rules and guidelines that must be followed when participating in
line-follower robot competitions.
• Robotmea Kits, LEGO MINDSTORMS kits, NXT 2.0, NXT 2.1, Ev3, or similar
kits are allowed in the competition.
• Pre-Assembled kits are not allowed. (i.e. Pololu kits, PID Pre-Designed Kits)
• All robots must be autonomous, meaning that they must be able to
navigate the course without any human intervention.
• Robots must be able to follow a black line on a white background. The line
will be 1inch wide.
• The maximum size of the robot is limited to 25 cm x 25 cm x 25 cm.
• The robot must not damage the course or the track at the activation.
• The robot must not emit any harmful or disruptive substances or signals.
• The Robot must not have any external means of control, such as a remote
control.
• The robot must be powered by a battery.
• Teams are allowed to have up to 3 members.
• Each team is allowed to bring one line follower robot in the competition.
• Teams are required to provide their own tools and equipment for
maintaining and repairing their robot during the competition.
It is important for teams participating in line follower robot competitions in
Pakistan to familiarize themselves with these rules and guidelines to ensure that
their robot is eligible to compete. By following these rules, teams can ensure that
the competition is fair and enjoyable for all participants.

Module 4: Robo Sumo Competition (College & University)
The competition will be held in a circular arena with a diameter of 1.5 meters.
• The robots used in the competition must have a maximum dimension of
20cm x 20cm x 20cm.
• Robot must be controlled Wirelessly/ Remote controller during the
competition.
• The competition will consist of three rounds, with each round lasting three
minutes.
• The robot that pushes its opponent out of the arena or disables its
opponent wins the round.
• The robot that wins two out of the three rounds is declared the winner of
the match.
• If both robots remain in the arena at the end of a round, the winner will be
determined by the robot that has pushed its opponent the farthest from
the center of the arena.
• If a robot becomes disabled during the competition, it will be declared the
loser of the round.
• Each team is responsible for ensuring the safety of their robot and the
spectators.
• The participants should behave nicely & and show sportsman spirit during
the competition. Any misconduct in behavior will result in disqualification.
• The judges' decision will be considered as final. Any complaint against the
judge will only be addressed by the chief organizer of the conference.
Module 5: Line Follower Robot (College & University)
The Line Follower Robot Competition is an exciting event that challenges
participants to design and build a robot that can follow a pre-determined track.
The competition consists of two rounds.
First Round:
The first round of the competition is the "complete the track" round. In this
round, teams are required to build a robot that can navigate the track from start
to finish without falling off or going astray. The judges will be looking for robots
that are able to accurately follow the line and complete the course in a timely
manner.
Second Round:
are required to build a robot that is able to navigate the track as quickly as
possible. The judges will be looking for robots that are able to complete the
course in the shortest amount of time while still accurately following the line.

Rules:

1. LEGO MINDSTORMS kits, NXT 2.0, NXT 2.1, Ev3, or any other pre-designed
robotic modules including any microcontroller are allowed.
2. All robots must be autonomous and would be able to navigate the course
without any human intervention.
3. Robots must be able to follow a black line on a white background. The line
will be 1 inch wide = 2.6 cm.
4. The maximum size of the robot is limited to 25 cm x 25 cm x 25 cm.
5. The robot must not damage the course in any way.
6. The robot must not emit any harmful or disruptive substances or signals.
7. The Robot must not have any external means of control, such as a remote
control.
8. The robot must be powered by a battery.
9. Teams are allowed to have up to 3 members.
10.Each team is allowed to bring one line follower robot to the competition.
11.Teams are required to provide their own tools and equipment for
maintaining and repairing their robot during the competition.
Overall, the Line Follower Robot Competition is a fun and exciting event that
challenges participants to design and build robots that are capable of accurately
following a pre-determined track. It is a great opportunity for participants to
showcase their skills and knowledge in the field of robotics, and to learn from
their peers and the wider community.
