This week, we're diving into the exciting world of technology and language learning. You have
the opportunity to choose ONE of the following activities to explore how technology can
enhance your learning experience. Read the descriptions carefully and pick the activity that
sparks your interest the most.
● Your Mission: You'll work with a group to analyze a real-life language teaching scenario
that involves technology. Your task is to become a "teaching detective" and figure out
what's working well and what could be improved.
● What You'll Do:
1. Join a Group: You'll be assigned to a team of 3-5 classmates.
2. Analyze the Case: Your group will receive a scenario describing a language
lesson using technology.
3. Investigate: Individually, read the scenario and think about:
■ What are the good parts of how technology is used?
■ What could be done better?
■ How does the teacher use their knowledge of the language, teaching, and
technology?
4. Collaborate: Meet with your group online to discuss your findings. Use a shared
document to write down your team's analysis and suggest ways to improve the
lesson.
5. Present Your Findings: Your group will present your analysis to the class.
6. Debrief: Participate in a class discussion about what you learned.
● Technology: Google Docs, online meeting platform (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.).
● Your Mission: Take a traditional language lesson and use technology to transform it into
something new and exciting.
● What You'll Do:
1. Pick a Lesson: Choose a language lesson you've learned before (e.g., a
grammar lesson, a vocabulary activity).
2. Transform It!: Step by step, use the SAMR model to upgrade your chosen
lesson:
■ Substitution: How can you replace traditional tools with digital ones?
■ Augmentation: How can you use technology to make the lesson better?
MILESTONE 1
■ Modification: How can you change the lesson to make it more engaging
with technology?
■ Redefinition: How can you create a completely new learning experience
using technology?
3. Build Your Portfolio: Create a digital portfolio to show your transformation.
Explain each step and how technology changed the lesson.
4. Share and Learn: Share your portfolio with classmates and give each other
feedback.
● Technology: Presentation software (Google Slides, PowerPoint), digital portfolio
platform (Google Sites, etc.).
● Your Mission: Create your own digital language learning resource to help others learn.
● What You'll Do:
1. Choose Your Project: Pick a language topic or skill you want to teach (e.g.,
vocabulary, listening, grammar).
2. Create Your Content: Use digital tools to create a learning resource, such as:
■ A short video lesson.
■ An interactive quiz or game.
■ A podcast episode.
■ A series of social media posts.
3. Document Your Process: Write down the tools you used and how you created
your resource.
4. Reflect: Write about what you learned and how your resource could be used in a
language class.
5. Share Your Creation: Present your project to the class and get feedback from
your peers.
● Technology: Canva, Audacity, H5P, Genially, video editing tools.
