AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSESSMENT
ASEAN NCAP is introducing the Autonomous
Emergency Braking (AEB) system functionality
assessment in its new 2021-2025 protocol. In the
protocol, ASEAN NCAP assessed the functionality
and effectiveness of AEB City (C2C rear stationary)
and AEB Inter-Urban (C2C rear moving) systems
fitted inside the vehicle in performing emergency
braking at several speeds against another
preceeding vehicle. The new Honda Accord is
equipped with both the AEB City and Inter-Urban
systems either as standard or optional accross
all variants. In this assessment, ASEAN NCAP
confirms the technologies have functioned
according to the ASEAN NCAP requirements.

BLIND SPOT DETECTION ASSESSMENT
Starting from the 2017-2020 protocol, ASEAN
NCAP introduced assessment on the functionality
of Blind Spot Technology fitted inside the
assessed vehicle. ASEAN NCAP continues the
assessment under the new Motorcyclist Safety
pillar for the new 2021-2025 protocol. The new
Honda Accord is equipped with Blind Spot
Visualization (BSV) on the passenger side of the
vehicle as standard or optional fitment across
variants. In this assessment, ASEAN NCAP
confirms the technology has functioned
according to the ASEAN NCAP requirements on
the left side area of the vehicle.
OVERALL RATING
The newly released Honda Accord is the latest lineup of Honda models that underwent ASEAN NCAP
assessment. The Honda Accord was previously assessed by ASEAN NCAP in 2019 under the 2017-2020
protocol and was awarded with 5-Star rating. The new Accord offers 8 airbags as standard together
with a number of safety technologies across all its variants. The technologies fitted as standard
comprised Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System
(SBR) for frontal and rear seats occupants, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB
Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, Blind Spot Visualization (BSV) for front passenger side, Auto High Beam
(AHB), Pedestrian Protection (PP) technology and Child Presence Detection (CPD). The sedan is also
equipped with other advanced safety assist technologies namely Forward Collision Warning (FCW),
Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Driver Attention Monitor (DAM), FCW for
Motorcycle and AEB for Motorcycle which are available either as standard or optional fitment. The
new Honda Accord successfully achieved an overall score of 87.44 points under the current
2021-2025 assessment protocol. This score has made the new Accord eligible to be awarded with
5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.
