Alembic Polyvalent 20 liters + Thermometer + Separation grills


Reference AP20LTPS

Versatile model, suitable for alcoholic and aromatic distillations.

For alcoholic distillations: it has a capacity in the boiler of 20 liters and a yield of 10-15% of its
capacity considering a ferment of 10º alcoholic.
(2 to 3 liters are obtained by distillation)

For aromatic distillations it has a capacity of 20 liters in the boiler and 600 grams of plants or
flowers in the column.

We can empty and reload the column when the oil in the plants or flowers run out (we can load
and unload the column 3-5 times per distillation)

We can distill from 600 to 2000 grams of plants or flowers per distillation.

It is obtained from 17-18 liters of hydrolate and 20 to 25 ml of pure essential oil.

Made of 1 mm copper plate, hammered, handles and nuts in shiny brass and riveted joints.

Copper alembics intended for alcoholic distillation are recommended for 3 fundamental
reasons:

- Copper is a malleable metal so it can give the characteristic shapes of a alembic that favor
distillation.

- The only metal catalyst for alcohol is copper, it filters and purifies the alcohol, obtaining a
higher quality distillate.

- It is a great conductor of heat, which allows lower energy expenditure and constant
distillation.
Fundamental parts of the alembic or distiller

• Boiler: Fundamental part of the alembic, where we load the product to be distilled.

• Column: It fits into the boiler to distill essential oils or alcoholic distillations by steam
stripping. It has a grill with holes welded to the bottom to place the botanicals on top and
that can stop the steam. It includes an increase tube to compensate the height.

• Head: It collects the alcoholic vapors that come from distillation.


This model has a classic head that fits directly into the boiler, it is necessary to seal it
with teflon, sealant or similar.

• Transfer tube: It communicates the head with the chiller, also called the swan neck.
Transfers alcoholic vapors from the head to the chiller or condenser.

• Chiller or condenser: It has an internal coil of 3.50 turns and 1.50 meters inside, with a
capacity of 9 liters. It is at this point that the alcoholic vapor is transformed into a liquid.
It has an inlet and outlet with stainless steel valves to renew the water or install a
refrigeration unit or chiller.

Column separation grill

It is placed on top of the plants to prevent them from rising up and clogging the tube that goes to
the chiller.

Boiler separation grill

To prevent the solid product from sticking to the bottom of the boiler, if we carry out direct distillations
in the boiler.
